Chapter 22 The Creepy Feelings

• I sat in my office, later that day, going through all the documents of Jake's recent activities that Conrad had supplied me. Jake had asked that we do nothing, but pray that Mr Montgomery wouldn't call off our contract. But I wanted to do more than pray. I wanted to search for myself for anything that may be in Jake's name and clear it before it becomes public notice. It was already enough that Jake's name was being tainted right now, anything more would be deadly.
• Wait! Why do I feel there's something more? Could it be that I am making this up or....is Jake truly up to something shady that I didn't know? Well, the documents before me will prove what I said to myself as I delve more into the case.
• The dim light of my laptop screen was already casting a soft glow in the otherwise dark room, making it look more like a prison to me than the office I am familiar with. The clock on the wall was ticking away the seconds, with each one a complete reminder of how deep I was getting into this investigation. Jake's name was on the line, yes. So was our project with Mr Montgomery. I couldn't afford to let my emotions cloud my judgment but here I was, battling with feelings I thought I had buried long ago.
