Chapter 5 Crescent Wolves

  • Valerie's POV
  • I was stunned beyond words when I heard Alpha Niklaus admit to the other Alphas that I was his mate. I thought he would be ashamed of being mated to an Omega. Alpha Ronald was ashamed, and he told no one about it. He even warned me never to mention it to anyone.
  • "You are fucking lying!" Alpha Ronald yelled, a growl rumbling out of his chest.
  • I knew that he would not believe Alpha Niklaus because he would not think that I had two mates. It was not unheard of though, but it was very rare.
  • "You can ask her." Alpha Niklaus stated, making every eye turn to me inquisitively. "What I want to know is why my mate was locked up, not just in his room, but his bathroom? You were hurting her, weren't you?"
  • There was a collective gasp from the people surrounding us, and most of them seemed confused by the whole dilemma.
  • "First of all, she is not your fucking mate..."
  • Alpha Ronald was not done talking when I interrupted him. "He is my mate."
  • I looked into his eyes, and I saw the shock and anger in them. Shock that I would speak in front of so many Alphas. I usually would not, but somehow, I felt safe.
  • "You are lying, Valerie."
  • "If they both admit that they are mates, they are mates then." Alpha Dawson stated, looking a bit confused by the argument, and a small smile crossed my lips. We had him in a corner now, unless he was ready to tell everyone that I was his mate. I believed he would not.
  • "Valerie," Alpha Ronald called in a very soft voice, which had not used on me since the early days I discovered he was my mate.
  • A car suddenly drove in, and Alpha Niklaus didn't wait for him to say whatever he was going to say to me. He lifted me off the ground, and began to walk to the car.
  • "Alpha Niklaus, wait!" Ronald called after us, and Alpha Niklaus stopped walking. "Prove to us that she is your mate."
  • "You will not take our words for it?"
  • "No."
  • My new mate chuckled. "How do they prove the mate bond? Will a kiss do?" I figured that he was just taunting Ronald, but it made my heart leap.
  • I thought it was going to end at that question, but he suddenly put me down and cupped my chin, and his eyes met mine. From the way he was gazing at me, I knew that he was asking for permission.
  • And I nodded.
  • Niklaus closed the distance between us and captured my lips in a kiss, and I felt my knees go weak instantly, the bond between us intensifying what was just supposed to be a simple kiss.
  • From the corner of my eyes, I saw Alpha Ronald clutch his chest, and marks of infidelity was starting to appear on his wrists. I knew how painful those marks could be. I had them on me all the time. In fact, this was the reason I agreed for Alpha Niklaus to kiss me. I wanted him to feel the pain too.
  • In an effort to hide the marks and his pain, Alpha Ronald excused himself and rushed back into his pack house, but he gave me a look as if saying 'this is not over'.
  • And at that very moment, I sighted someone from my peripherals, Tania, my sister. Her face was red with rage as she stared at me, but she had to hold herself back. I guessed that she hated to see me finally free, and with another Alpha. A richer and more handsome one; someone she would probably want for herself.
  • My new mate, oblivious of the situation led me to his car. He opened the back door for me and waited for me to step in first, before he entered after me.
  • "Everything clear, Alpha?" The driver asked.
  • "Yes, move."
  • I was quiet for most of the ride, my mind going over all that happened today. I was finally out, I was finally free. Tania was the only family I had, but the goddess knew that I was not going to miss her at all.
  • By the time we crossed the border of our pack, I turned to him.
  • "Thank you."
  • He turned to me, looking as if he wanted to say something, but he held himself back.
  • "Can you open the windows please? I feel hot here."
  • I was lying. The car was not hot at all, in fact, there was air condition which was working very well, but I wanted to smell something else apart from him. He smelled so good, and he was confusing my senses.
  • But he didn't complain. He just asked his driver to wind the glasses down, and he did. Was he trying to avoid my smell too?
  • The rest of the drive was quiet, and a bit awkward for me. But it was much better than being locked in Alpha Ronald's bathroom, waiting for him to come and punish me. I was looking out the window, and I didn't know when I fell asleep.
  • By the time I opened my eyes again, the car had come to a halt. I turned to the Alpha and saw him staring at me. My heart skipped both in anticipation and in trepidation. I had escaped a devil, but I didn't know if the man next to me was an angel or even a more cruel devil. My life was in his hands right now.
  • "We are here." He told me, and I nodded.
  • He came down from the car before rounding it and coming to open the door for me. I stepped out, and he held his hand out for me. I took it, my hands trembling slightly. It did feel so good to hold him, but I knew that it was only because of the mate bond. Even Alpha Ronald made my heart flutter at a time.
  • "Let's go in."
  • I swallowed the lump in my throat, dreading the thoughts of meeting new people. I wonder if they already knew that I was his mate. Would they hate me for being an Omega?
  • Alpha Niklaus and I just stepped into the foyer, when two men blocked our path. They were both tall and muscular, and from the aura they emitted, I knew that they were ranked wolves. Were these his brothers?
  • They bowed to the Alpha, before the one with longer curly hair, tied at the back began to speak.
  • "We heard that our Alpha went through so much stress rescuing a girl who he claimed was his mate, so we came to see."
  • "Don't you have anything better to do?" Alpha Niklaus asked, and I was surprised to hear the playful edge in his voice.
  • "We have, but we think knowing this lady is more important at the moment." The other man said, before turning to me. He smiled. "Hey, there."
  • A faint blush crept to my face. "Hi."
  • The one with hair tied then took my hand gently, making me smile. He was going to bring it to his lips and kiss it, when Alpha Niklaus slapped his hand away. He then wrapped his hands around my shoulders and pulled me away from him.
  • "Meet Jamie, he is my Beta." The Alpha introduced, and the Beta bowed to me slightly, making my face heat even more.
  • "And this is Damien, my Gamma." And just like the Beta, Damien lowered his head to me.
  • I was standing in front of an Alpha, a Beta and a Gamma, and I somehow felt at ease. Even the high ranking warriors back in my old pack could terrify me.
  • "Where is Carrie?" Alpha Niklaus asked, and that seemed to pique the Beta's interest.
  • "What has my mate got to do with any of this?" The Beta asked, making the gamma roll his eyes.
  • "Tell her to arrange the guest room in my suite."
  • "You can ask any Omega to do that."
  • Gamma Jamie chuckled. "He was just on his way to meet his mate for some shaggy time. You are taking that away."
  • I smiled at that, thinking that he was cute.
  • "Fine. I will need her later."
  • "Lateeeer."
  • The Alpha just shook his head, before taking my hand again. I thought we were going to use the stair case, but turns out that there was an elevator. And in no time, we got to his floor.
  • "Are you okay?" He asked me, and I nodded.
  • He then led me to the suite in the west wing of the floor. He opened the door with a code, and
  • I gasped at the luxury that beheld me.
  • "Welcome to the Crescent wolves pack, Valerie, and welcome to my home."
