Chapter 52
- I fought back with all the strength I had in me, but my opponent was faster and more skilled than I was. He clutched at my neck while I wrestled with the face mask he had on, desperate to see who it was. He had the same T-shirt as always, a dark T-shirt with the face of a wolf imprinted on the shoulders. Today, unlike the other days, he focused more on my stomach, lunging hard blows into me. My baby! He was aiming to kill my baby! I wanted to scream for help, but I couldn't find my voice.
- I jerked awake, my hands flying to my stomach, sweat trickling down my forehead. Tears stung my eyes as I massaged my stomach. It's the third time I'd be having the same dream and each time was scarier than the last.
- I sighed as my feet touched the ground, the bed not nearly as comfortable as the one I was used to. The room didn't carry the scent of my mate, I had no idea where I was. I remember crying, begging, and trying to explain myself to Slade, but he'd looked at me like I just committed the worse crime on the earth and I could never get that image of him out of my head.
