Chapter 6 Mrford

  • Elena - POV
  • The maid cleaned the room as I dressed in my formal clothes to discuss with my team how to handle the situation that was turning against me in the media and on social media are at me. Also, I need to find a new project for myself. As the news reached the other producers that Christian backed out on me, they boycotted me.
  • Somehow, dragging myself to the office after so much turmoil running through me, and my sickness is getting the better of me. Janice had booked the appointment back with Dr.Rudolf.
  • The team’s spirits seemed lowered beneath their straight faces, just like the fake expression that I had pulled up on my face. Janice started the meeting, and the PR made excuses to cover up my tainted reputation. Their ideas seemed to fail if we put such baseless arguments into the news. It would work well for me.
  • The frustration is building up within me, thinking about how I put my trust in a snake-like human. Jake never gave me any reason or showed any cruel behavior toward me before. Honestly, in my memory, he was a sweet and understanding man. I am a lucky woman to be around such a man. I never imagined in my wildest nightmare that things spun so severely.
  • “Ms. Hayes,” Janice’s voice jolts me out of my thoughts. I looked at the room, and she stared at me with concern. A warm liquid trickled from my nostrils. As I excused myself, Janice quickly passed me the handkerchief, walking to the rooftop to catch my breath and escape the overwhelming feelings.
  • Taking a few deep breaths, the doctor warned me not to stress. It would decline my health. The reason for the nosebleeds was because of excessive stress, just because of the asshole I loved.
  • “Ms. Hayes,” Janice’s voice came more cautiously as I turned over my shoulder to see her wearing a concerned look on her countenance. “Sorry to invade your privacy... I was worried about your well-being.” I sighed and smiled at her. Janice relaxed as she closed a little distance.
  • “I don’t bite Janice.” She nods timidly as she walks towards me with a tissue box. The nosebleed didn’t stop. After a couple of minutes, the situation came under control.
  • “Do I look messy?” I asked, in concern, because if anyone saw me like this, they would be sure of my ill health, and I wouldn’t want others to talk more about me.
  • “No, but a little pale in complexion,” Janice muttered. Checking myself in the mirror to do a touch-up, I mustered my energy and returned to the meeting to resume. That had abruptly come to a halt because of me.
  • As the meeting continued to complete, the speech to be given to the press would bring the spotlight back on me. As we discuss how to get the new projects in and what offers we can make the producers agree on.
  • The meeting came to a halt again, but this time it was not because of me, but the Handsome Man distracted my staff as they were peering at Mr. Ford through the glass walls as he strolled towards our conference room.
  • The strange feeling surfaced, and I knew this jittery feeling well. But I mentally slap myself to stop getting aroused by emotions that have fucked my life.
  • Though Mr. Ford held my gaze with such intensity, it captivated me. I skated my eyes off him.
  • Coming out of his stupor, I wonder what he is doing in my office. As he opened the tumbler entrance, his secretary followed her in.
  • “Ms. Hayes,” Janice’s voice drew everyone’s attention. “Mr. Ford will be the new producer for the movie that Christian left.” I blinked for a few seconds, processing Janice’s words.
  • “Why didn’t you inform me earlier?”
  • “I am sorry I was above to say, but you looked” I gestured for Janice to stop completing the sentences. I knew why she couldn’t tell me, seeing me ill on the Rooftop.
  • “Can you all leave the room?” All of them left the conference room. I stared at Mr. Ford’s secretary as she understood my expression. She left the room.
  • “What the hell are you planning?” I growled. His ocean stares with no emotions at all.
  • “Do you greet your producer harshly?” He asked, gazing straight at me.
  • “Mr.Ford, I know your business and investment have no connection to this industry. Why are you sponsoring me, and what is the real deal?” I asked. Yuri had told me about Mr. Ford’s business deals in the stock market and real estate. His business doesn’t deal with the entertainment line.
  • “I am an investor. So I can choose any stream to invest in,” he said, taking his seat at the other side of the table. As I took my chair on the other end, “I am sponsoring your talent, Ms.Hayes, so don’t get the wrong ideas here.” I stared at him to see whether his words were genuine, but it was hard to read this man’s expressions.
  • “All your projects which you had earlier will be back on track.” He spoke with a professional attitude.
  • “This is what you came to speak with me about last night.” His eyes flickered with some unreadable emotion, but he nodded his head.
  • “My secretary will share the details of the offer. Let me know your answer,” he said as he gracefully stood up from the other end of the table and made his way out.
  • “Mr. Ford.” He turned to look at me. His sharp face stared at me with a question.
  • “Thank you for sponsoring,” I said. This man always helped me out of the situation, and the depth of his favor weighed on me. He walked away with his arrogant demeanor as his secretary passed some documents into Janice’s hands.
  • Staring askance and taking a deep breath of relief to know that I still have projects in my hand will boost my image, and I can do the press conferences, informing them my movies are still in motion. I smiled at the thought of seeing myself back in the game. All thanks to Mr. Ford, but why do I feel there is more to his mystery?
