• I shift into my wolf form and glower at Theo and Janice, who step down from their thrones. Emily shook her head and cried for me to leave as tears rolled down her eyes. It upsets me to see her like this. My wolf, Ray, can sense the connection as she is family, and I knew things were true. I needed no more confirmation about Emily. I knew it was time to free my mother and have her go home with me and be with my mate.
• Theo changed into his gray wolf and stood at full height, baring his canines. I clawed at his face as he growled more in fury at me. I dodged his attack and knocked him on the back so hard that Theo fell to the ground, moaning. Seeing the time, I reach Emily's aid, but before I do, a black wind pushes me backward.
