Chapter 2 Mate

• Silas - POV
• “She is our second chance, mate, Silas,” my wolf Ray purred happily.
• “She’s human. Ray, I am doubtful. Maybe we need to check with the elder of the pack. Our mate could be a late shifter or just a human,” Ray growled at my lack of enthusiasm. I was trying not to inhale the sweet smell of Jasmine, which overpowered me.
• “Is she going to be fine?” Ray asked with concern. Ray and I used healing magic on her bruised arm and forehead. “
• “She should be fine, but we still have the Pack doctor to confirm,” Ray said. After our mate died, Ray and I have been learning to heal magic. We are still amateurs at treating, though.
• “Alpha, this woman in your arms looks familiar, but isn’t she human?” My beta, Yuri, walked up to me.
• “Yuri, get the Pack doctor” she nodded without asking more, and I carried this unknown human woman to my manor.
• “Ray, you better listen to me. Suppress this mate bond into your emotions. I have my suspicions about this woman. How did she enter Wolfland? When it’s secured by invisible magic to safeguard us from humans discovering us?” I explained to Ray as I lay this woman in the guest room as I went to get dressed.
• “You are right, Silas. Let us ask Yuri, she said. It seemed she knew this human,” Ray said.
• The pack doctor examined her. I gestured to Yuri to step out of the room. “Do you know her?”
• “Of course, I do, Alpha. She is Hollywood’s famous diva, Elena Hayes. I am a big fan of her performance," Yuri replied with a gleam of excitement to cheer for my ears to handle it.
• “Tone it down, Yuri” I winced at Yuri’s enthusiasm.
• “Sorry, Alpha, but you should see her performance. She is a refined actress. But I wonder how she came to our Pack,” Yuri replied.
• “Now, when you mention the name, it rings bells. But this human actress is still suspicious,” Yuri sighed at my statement.
• “Alpha, you are always dubious about everything,” she said. I grunted at her.
• “I have treated her wound, and she will gain consciousness soon,” Dr. said. Yuri is escorting the Doctor.
• I stepped into the room, and they greeted my nostrils with her scent of Jasmine. Her forehead had a bandage. I wanted to avoid staring at her frame.
• “Do we have to reject our mate?” Ray asked.
• “Yes, don’t nag me with the same question,” I snapped.
• I needed to leave her alone and ask Yuri to look after her, but I couldn’t take off from the room as I felt calm next to her. I felt this mate bond soothing after so long a time.
• She moaned as she blinked her hazel eyes and looked around. As she tries to sit up. One hand on her forehead as she hisses in discomfort.
• “Are you in pain?” I startled her with my voice as she glanced my way.
• “You are the enormous Dick guy who came in front of my car,” she says as she stares at me. I felt irritated and amused by her description of my dick. I heard a chuckle. It appeared from Yuri and Mac, my omega.
• “Huh,”
• “Sorry for startling you, Ms. Hayes. We are friends of Mr. Ford. We have some work with him,” Mac said.
• “Hmm… by the way, Mr. Enormous Dick.. sorry, I mean… Mr. Ford, thank you for saving me.” I see Yuri chuckle as she covers her mouth to hide it. Mac tries to keep a straight face but fails as he chuckles. I growled at them, and they stopped. I glanced at Elena. Her face was red from embarrassment.
• “Rest up, Ms. Hayes. You have hit your head pretty hard,” I remarked in mockery. She just gave me a blank stare. I mind-linked Yuri to look after her as I mind-linked Mac to follow me into my office.
• “It attracted our mate to us,” Ray muttered.
• “Right, it attracted her to my Dick,” I growled at Ray.
• “Why are you being an asshole? You liked her gaze scanning us from head to toe. Don’t lie to me.” He growled. I blocked him to stop disturbing me.
• “Mac, find out details about Elena Hayes about what businesses she has in this city and verify her car,” I said.
• “What car?” Mac asked. I explained to him I was chasing behind the rogue and killed him. As I came to stand on the territory’s edge, I saw them moving toward me, and when I got her out of the car. At one glance, I could see the car had problems. The airbags failed, and her brakes were not working.
• “Could it be she was trying to?”
• “Stop speaking nonsense. She would try to take her life but use a problematic car,” Yuri walked in, cutting off Mac’s speech.
• “I just assume it could be the case,” Yuri growled at his remark. “I am even a fan of Elena Hayes. I wanted to ask her so many questions. “
• “Right, I believe you are a fan who thinks she is trying to end her existence. Asshole,”
• “Shut up,” I growled. Massage the bridge of my nose.
• “Why are you here? I asked her to take care of my mate.” I called Elena, my mate.
• “Wait, Elena Hayes, your mate.” Yuri jumped in excitement. Mac looked at me, surprised.
• “I do not take her as my mate. She is unknown in our world, and I will reject her. I can’t risk her life,” I answered. They both nodded in response—understanding why I was not ready to mate. I lost my mate to an undiscovered mystery that I couldn’t solve.
• “Alpha, she is sleeping. I think she needs time to recover.” Yuri answered.
• “As soon as she heals, send her away,” I answered coldly. They both took off from my office to run errands for me.
• I took a remote while turning on the TV. I turned on the broadcast.
• “Breaking News: Elena Hayes, the famous actress who came to Minnesota for work, has been missing. Couldn’t it be Elena Hayes quitting Hollywood after finding her fiancé cheating on her with other actresses? As officers are investigating the whereabouts of Elena Hayes, stay tuned with us for more updates.” I turned off the TV. I am making a drink for myself. I don’t know why I feel uneasy hearing the report that Elena suffered such a thing.
• I walked up to check on her in the room. But I see a murky-looking silhouette seeking to touch Elena’s sleeping frame before I can use my attack, and it vanishes.
