Chapter 13 Need to Go

  • The bedroom was silent at night, and the atmosphere was very warm and cozy.
  • On the contrary, outside of the bedroom, Goldshore was not so peaceful.
  • Phantom had spread the voice recording throughout the city through three hundred phantom guards, causing an uproar throughout the whole city.
  • Fletcher, the son of the Four Waves Chamber of Commerce's Doyle Family, had bribed Jacko's subordinate, Douglas, to go against Tigre's people. This was undoubtedly sowing discord between the two tops and trying to start a war between Westhill's and Northside's underground worlds!
  • At the same time, Branson's matter was exposed too, causing the strongest cleansing operation in Goldshore's government.
  • Within two hours, many from Goldshore's mid-level government were caught, and even a few from the top-level were brought down. Their companies were seized as well. This brought fear to the whole city that even the slightest movement could frighten them.
  • Most importantly, Jacko's subordinate, Douglas, was found dead in one of the Rose Hotel's rooms!
  • This made everyone think that it was the Four Waves Chamber of Commerce who killed him.
  • Under Phantom's control, the media thrusted the Four Waves Chamber of Commerce into the middle of the controversy, making them become villains who could sew things up.
  • In the Four Waves Tower, four people were seated in the conference room. They were the four key figures of the Four Waves Chamber of Commerce.
  • The head of the Lowell Family, Asher Lowell; the Murphy Family's head, Samuel Murphy; Cameron Doyle, the Doyle Family's head; and Ingrid, who was from the Bergman Family.
  • Ingrid sat at the main seat in the room, scanning the other three with her icy gaze. At last, her gaze landed on Cameron, who was sitting on her right.
  • "Mr. Doyle, I told you to ask your son to stay low, didn't I?" she said coldly.
  • At this moment, Cameron's face was very gloomy, and he simply lowered his head without saying a word.
  • Thump! On the other side, Asher thumped the table and stood up before bellowing, "No wonder your son's legs are broken! I think it was a good idea to break his legs. How dare you let him provoke Daniel when you know that this is a crucial period for our Chamber of Commerce?!"
  • "This cleansing operation happened because of your son! Many of my companies have been seized, and my connections with the investors have all been cut off! I've lost at least a few hundred million!"
  • Hearing that, Cameron said while gritting his teeth, "I'm really sorry. I-I didn't know that things would turn out to be so serious. The Doyle Family will compensate for all losses."
  • "Compensate? If we cannot become the agency of the Sky Project, you can't compensate for that even if you sell the whole Doyle Family!" Asher was enraged.
  • "How did a little director cause such a powerful cleansing operation, though? Is it because of Daniel? Could it be that he knows some powerful figures?" Samuel frowned and stroked his beard, his eyes filled with worry.
  • When everyone heard that, they kept quiet instantly.
  • After all, they were the ones who worked together to snatch the Hardon Group back then. After Daniel went into prison, they never received news about him anymore. Ten years was enough to let him grow without them knowing and resurface once more.
  • "I don't think so. From what I've gathered, he's currently a toy boy for a small company's president. Although I don't know why Tigre is protecting him, he's not a threat anyway," Ingrid said calmly.
  • "Now, the most important thing is to eliminate the controversy and make sure we're still in the race to snag the Sky Project." Samuel hit the table.
  • "No, that's not the most important thing." Suddenly, Ingrid shook her head, and the other three were startled.
  • "Although public opinion is important, even if we clear our names, Jacko will still think that we are the ones who killed Douglas. He will still go against us with Tigre. Based on his personality, he will definitely make a big scene, and we won't be able to bag the Sky Project."
  • Asher was frustrated upon hearing that. "What should we do, then? Is there no other way?"
  • "There is, but this depends on Mr. Doyle." Ingrid squinted her eyes and looked at Cameron, making him feel as though he was being marked by a viper.
  • "All of this happened because of Fletcher, so he will be the solution to this. We will conduct a press conference tomorrow afternoon and tell them that Tigre made up all of these in an attempt to pick a fight between Jacko and us. Then, we will need to forge evidence to prove that Fletcher never contacted Douglas. Naturally, Jacko will project his anger onto Tigre. It is impossible for Tigre to trouble us when he needs to fight against Jacko."
  • As soon as she said that, Samuel asked immediately, "How will Jacko believe that, though? Douglas said himself that Fletcher was the one who asked him to do that."
  • "That's why I said it depends on Mr. Doyle." Ingrid raised her brows, and a stream of ruthlessness flashed in her eyes.
  • Cameron stopped breathing for a moment when he met her gaze. What she said next made him tremble as though he was in an icehouse, chilled to the bone.
  • "Please kill Fletcher tonight, Mr. Doyle. We can make use of this period when his legs are broken. At the press conference tomorrow, you can announce that Fletcher died yesterday because of the inflammation in his broken legs. With that, Douglas' voice recording will be of no use."
  • Her words were like a bomb, blowing their minds.
  • As the other three looked at Ingrid, who was saying all these things as though they were nothing serious, they could feel their hearts pounding and goosebumps forming throughout their bodies. This woman was much more cruel than they had imagined.
  • The next morning, a stream of sunlight shone on the bed through the curtains, giving warmth to the room.
  • Daniel used to wake up early, but he overslept this time. He was awakened when he felt his body being shaken.
  • When he opened his eyes, he saw Denise standing by the bed and pouting. "Daddy, why are you hugging Mommy to sleep, but not me?" she asked.
  • "What?" He didn't know what was going on. The next second, he was shocked as he felt a person lying on him, and that body felt extremely soft.
  • He lowered his head to take a look, only to find that Janice was lying against his shoulder with her fair arms hugging his neck. Her slender thigh was crossed over his waist, sandwiching his body and sticking onto him just like an octopus.
  • At this moment, he could feel her breath from her beautiful face so close to his.
  • Just then, he saw her long eyelashes quivering and her eyes gradually opening, looking at him in a daze.
  • Seeing that, his first thought was, Oh sh*t.
  • Almost immediately, the bedroom was filled with a high-pitched scream. "Ahhh!"
  • Janice widened her eyes and kicked Daniel out of the bed before shouting, "Y-You…" As she said that, she touched her shirt with both her hands, trying to feel if there was anything strange with her body.
  • Quickly, Daniel stood up and kept waving his hand while explaining, "I didn't do anything. You slept over here yourself. I just realized it when I woke up too." The panic on his face made him look like a husband who had done something wrong and was afraid that he would be scolded by his wife.
  • As he said that, her face darkened immediately. Janice then said coldly, "Are you saying that I went up to you myself?!"
  • Looking at her eyes that were going to blast out the fire of rage, he knew that he would only make things worse if he kept explaining. So, he carried Denise and quickly left the room.
  • When Janice saw him running away, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.
  • Of course, she knew she had a habit of hugging people when she slept, but how could she admit that she hugged Daniel first? This would be so embarrassing for her. That was why she pretended to be angry and tried to put the blame on him.
  • However, she found his reaction hilarious.
  • After breakfast, Daniel stayed at home to play with Denise for the whole morning, for the little girl dared not go out and play after what had happened yesterday.
  • While he was playing with her, he received a text from Phantom. 'Fletcher is dead. There will be a press conference today at 1.00PM.'
  • As expected. Although he could already guess it, he was still surprised.
  • After not meeting for ten years, Ingrid had become more and more ruthless—she was like a she-devil. There wouldn't be another person in this world who would dare ask Cameron to kill his own son.
  • Naturally, he needed to go to this press conference. The reason why he didn't kill Fletcher himself was for this moment.
  • Before that, he still had one thing that he needed confirmation on.
  • After lunch, he left the neighborhood while Janice and Denise were taking a nap. However, he didn't go to the press conference right away. Instead, he went to the Thunder Bar to look for Raymond.
  • In the afternoon, the Thunder Bar was empty.
  • When Raymond knew that Daniel was here, he quickly opened the door to welcome him.
  • "Sir." As soon as he saw Daniel, nervousness could be seen on his face, and he bowed to greet him respectfully.
  • "Let's talk inside," Daniel said calmly.
  • After entering the bar, they sat opposite each other.
  • The big-sized Raymond sitting up straight in a small chair made him look a little silly.
  • Opposite him, Daniel looked calm as he said, "Do you know why I'm here?"
  • Hearing that, Raymond nodded and answered, "You're the one who killed Douglas."
  • Although there was news circulating, Daniel's name was not mentioned at all. The news just mentioned that Douglas used Raymond's people.
  • Before this, Raymond was still unsure about what happened, but when he heard about Fletcher's involvement in this, only then did he think about Daniel.
  • When Daniel heard his answer, he nodded and asked, "That's right. Anything else?"
  • "Well… are you here to get me to clean up this mess?" Raymond took a deep breath. Other than this possibility, he really couldn't think of any other reason.
  • As he said that, Daniel chuckled, and there was a sharp glare in his eyes. At this moment, his body was giving out a blood-curdling aura.
  • "Trouble? Even if the entire Goldshore comes together, it can't even be considered trouble! I can flip the whole Goldshore around if I want to!"
