Chapter 21 Venti

  • "Do you like the view?" I looked at Levi and smiled. "I did. Thanks for bringing me here."
  • It was hard to believe that Zack had been gone for two months. During that time, Levi had been trying to take me out to eat—something I had never agreed to. A week ago, he had begged me to go to Bingin with him. I had tried to decline for various reasons that sounded like a broken record. After a while, I decided to say yes because of everything he had done since Zack passed away. He was persistent in taking me out of the house.
  • Bingin Beach turned out to be quite deserted. There were only a few accommodations for surfers and small cafes around. The restaurant Levi had chosen was not the type of place that I, Levi, or Zack would choose if we weren't forced to. From the beginning, Levi said it wasn't about the food or the restaurant but the location. And, to be honest, I was glad. Access to the beach required going down some stairs—not as treacherous as the ones in Nyang-nyang or Gunung Payung—and Levi wanted me to move my body. Levi had mentioned his favorite spot there and wanted to take me there after we finished lunch.
