Chapter 6
- CHAPTER 6
- WILLIAMS’S POV
- I could hear her ragged heartbeat as I came closer to her, and that was when I knew I still had a hold on her.
- Yes, I still had a hold on the one woman I hadn't been able to stop loving after that night.
- She narrowed her eyes and said in a scratching tone, “I just said I don't know you, and I don't think we are that close for you to be speaking to me like that. Shouldn't that be considered sexual harassment?”
- My lips curled into a smile. “No, dear. Shouldn't you be trying to convince me to sign and accept your request to be an intern here?” I asked, a little amused by how quickly she showed her temper.
- “Well, my CV is solid enough to get me the job!” she pointed out confidently. “I don't need to use my body or allow some cheap misogynistic jokes to pass.”
- I couldn't help but smile. Olivia Brown is now very different from the one I had slept with five years ago. The woman I had been with that night was young and naive. She was an emotional mess back then, easily letting any man play with her feelings. But now, the act she had put on from her house to inside my office showed just how strong-willed she had become.
- I raised my gaze to her, a glint dancing in my eyes. “Now, why would I do that? Why would I put my stamp on the CV of a woman who walked me out of her house and just raised her voice at me inside my office?”
- “Well, that's because if you don't, I sure am going to tell the whole world what a disgusting person you are and how you harass women inside your office,” she threatened, and I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
- “So you're going to tell everyone that I came onto you inside my office?” I said, amused, and she nodded.
- “Yes, I will.”
- “So if I get this straight, you're trying to blackmail me to get your way through and become an intern in my firm?” I chuckled.
- She looked away and responded flatly, “Call it whatever you want; I don’t care. That’s what happened.”
- “If there’s anyone who has ever harassed the other, it would be you, Olivia Brown,” I pointed out, and her brows furrowed.
- “What do you mean? Are you trying to turn the whole thing around?”
- “No, I’m not. I’m just saying you have a record of harassing me and grabbing my dick without my permission, so I think you’re the one who is a disgusting mess here.”
- She glared at me, her face flashing with indignation. “What are you talking about? We were both drunk! It isn’t my fault. I would never do that to you if we were sober!”
- I instantly clapped my hands in her face, and she took a step back, surprised by my act, but I continued.
- “Yes, right there, Livie. Right there, you’ve just admitted that you know me. I guess your acting skills have run out, right?”
- She rolled her eyes and nodded her head. “Listen, that was a very long time ago. I didn’t know it was you, and I apologize for the way I spoke to you at the house. Still, that was just a fling and nothing more. You don't expect me to hold onto that for the last five years, do you?”
- “Of course I do,” I piped up. “I did hold onto mine and kept looking for you, so why couldn’t you?”
- She sighed. “Perhaps I should take my leave,” she said, moving to walk out, but I stepped closer to her with deliberate and determined steps, blocking her path.
- I swallowed hard. Maybe I’m taking it too fast. Signing her as an intern here is the best way to get closer to her,I can’t let her go.
- Standing in front of her now, I stared into her eyes and could see the feeling of uncertainty still lingering. She wasn't married, and maybe she wasn’t in any relationship right now or even engaged. Now, that was perfect for me. Signing her in would be the icing on the cake.
- “Come on, have a seat,” I said. “I will sign you in as an intern in my firm.”
- I walked over and pulled the chair out for her to settle in, and after a long contemplation, she finally did.
- As I watched her speak, I couldn't stop staring at those dark brown eyes and her black hair. She was a goddess! Her luscious hair cascaded down her back like a rich chestnut waterfall.
- I still couldn't believe that just yesterday I got her back. When someone contacted me about buying the pendant, I was beyond excited. That pendant had been left there for the last five years.
- That night wasn’t supposed to happen. Olivia Brown isn’t one of my sluts, nor is she a slut, but I missed the room number where my intended partner was waiting for me. I stumbled into her room instead.
- She was also drunk as hell, so she grabbed me by the crotch and urged me to sleep with her.
- That night, I didn’t hesitate. Now, I wanted her for myself alone.
- No woman has ever had this kind of hold on me, not even the ones who went the extra mile to please me.
- I couldn't quite wrap my head around why I was head over heels for a woman I had only seen and slept with once.
- For the next few minutes, she sat in silence, and she later broke the awkwardness with a sigh.
- “Look, Williams, I will only agree to stay here if you agree to be professional—and I mean very, very professional.”
