Chapter 25
- CHAPTER 25
- OLIVIA
- Once I walked in with the Smiths, I could see the shock on William's face. It looked like he had seen a ghost. He stood there in disbelief, staring blankly at the old man and his young wife, Mrs. Lola. They both walked into his office while I stood by the side. Jsi's face lit up immediately when he saw them, and that told me all I needed to know about how highly he regards the Smith family. He hadn't smiled in the last three hours. When I came to work today, I noticed that my desk had been moved to the hallway leading to his office. It was usually in his office, but it had been moved outside. I took the hint immediately that he didn't want to see my face. But I still made some hot coffee—his favorite—and moved to give it to him, but he declined it as well. When I got to his office a few hours ago, I dropped the tea gently so it wouldn't spill, but he waved his hand dismissively, asking me to take the tea and leave his office. He didn't need to speak; his actions broke me into pieces.
