Chapter 18 Protection

  • Aiden panted as his paws carried him through the thick forest, the blurred images of the trees flying by in a blur. The wolf couldn't help but think to itself that it was a miracle it had not run into a tree by now. Aiden's darkening grey coat blended in with the darkening trees as the sun set beyond the tree line.
  • The temperature was dropping quickly, he was starting to see that each breath he took puffed out in a small, white, translucent cloud. Aiden couldn't understand why he was in such a rush to get back to the strange female with the intoxicating scent. He could not understand his need to be near her, all he knew was that he had to be with her.
  • As the wolf was nearing the place where it had left the female's unconscious body, its ears picked up a large thud, just behind the shrubs. Suddenly it went on high alert immediately and shoved through the thorny shrubs that survived the harsh winter, ignoring the scratches and tugs at its fur coat.
