Chapter 37 Truth Will Out

  • For three weeks the family searched and searched. For all those long weeks they watched as fewer and fewer people showed up to continue the search. The sight had the eldest twin fighting off his fits of rage, how could these people not see how important it was to find the girl his mother was so convinced was still alive? Jean watched on in despair at her angry son and felt the guilt as her niece became more and more depressed as each sunset passed.
  • The wary mother watched on as her son's mood became darker and darker each day. She feared his heart would soon follow. Had she been right in keeping these secrets from her children? Had they all been right in sealing away the power that could have saved her daughter? Was she wrong in refusing to go to the pack for help? Sheriff John Dalton had a continuous screaming match with her each day at her stubborn refusal to seek the only help they could now benefit from.
  • She knew her son had unlocked his magic early; she had felt it the first time he had used it. Was she right in distancing herself from him and pretending she knew nothing of his powers? Would her children ever forgive her when they found out the despicable deeds she had committed in the name of their protection?
