• Slowly, Xander drifted into consciousness. He felt a weird pain in his body as he tried to sit up. Weakly, he gave up and continued to assume his lying position. He could feel soreness and heaviness all over his body.
• The terse smell of antiseptic and the faint smell of fresh flowers mingled and filled his nose. Almost immediately, his eyes fluttered open. He shivered with horror as he noticed the unfamiliarity of his environment. He tried to look around the room but the harsh hospital lights made him squint his eyes almost immediately.
