Chapter 3 An Evening With The Girls
- (AN EVENING WITH THE GIRLS)
- Sky wore a long, blue gown which was beautifully made with silk. She packed her rich, black and long hair into a ponytail. She carried a small, white handbag containing her phone and her credit cards.
- In her right hand was a fairly big shopping basket which was dangling as she walked towards the living room. Her heart skipped a beat as she remembered the morning's incident.
- She shook her head and opened her front door. She was a little bit alarmed to see three pairs of bright eyes staring at her as if they had been waiting for her to come out.
- She calmed down and smiled broadly, revealing her beautiful set of white teeth.
- "Hey babes" She cheerfully greeted the three sophisticated and gorgeous ladies standing in front of her.
- "I wasn't really expecting..." She choked on the rest of her words as she felt a pair of strong arms around her.
- "Sky love, what happened to you? You have not been picking my calls. Are you fine? Gosh! I was so worried about you. I thought that something bad has happened to you. Is anyone troubling you? Your voice sounds hoarse, have you been crying? What's with your puffy cheeks?" Mia pestered Skylar with many questions that the latter was confused about which one to answer first.
- Mia Osborne, a chocolate-skinned lady hailed from City H. She was the tallest and toughest among the four ladies. Mia was a successful engineer and a professional athlete who owned a black belt in karate and taekwondo.
- Mia was a no nonsense lady who didn't seem to be afraid of anything in the world. The twenty five year old lady was also a chatter box and had a lively personality. Every second with her was fun. Her kind of physical strength was rare and she used this to her advantage. She used her strength to fight for the weak and defend the powerless.
- Mia was a strong antagonizer of love. She was also a misogamist. She focused on her career and did not give a damn about men. She was a chronic playgirl who used and dumped men as she liked. Failing in love with a person was the last thing she wanted in her life. All she wanted was to become an independent and fulfilled woman who lived her life to the fullest.
- "Are you going somewhere?" Jasmine asked.
- Sky nodded in response.
- "Yeah, I am on my way to shop for groceries but I guess I have to postpone that" She replied Jasmine.
- "And you Mia, you are going to kill the poor girl with your annoying questions" not-so-tall but slender Jasmine glared at Mia before walking to Sky and blew her a kiss. "I am going in, girls" She informed the others and went to the living room, walking breezily.
- There went Jasmine Peters, a native of City F. She was the life of the party. She was a top model, fashionista and jeweller.
- She was known for making expensive and beautiful jewels and ornaments. Lovers of fashion always find their way into Jasmine's company. She was the CEO of Jas's jewel and fashion house.
- Jasmine was a fashion freak and would do anything to look gorgeous and beautify her light-skinned body. She was kind-hearted and cute. The twenty three year old lady was a beauty to behold.
- "You are yet to answer my questions, Sky." Mia said with a pout, still hugging Sky tightly.
- "What a drama queen!" Chubby and blonde Olivia scoffed at Mia and did a finger flick on her forehead before going to the living room too.
- Mia creased her eyebrows playfully and screamed at Olivia. "That hurts, you she-devil"
- Olivia shouted back at Mia stuffed her mouth with a plantain chip, savouring it with relish. "Deal with it you silly ass."
- Let's get to know Olivia White who was born in City G. She was chubby, beautiful and physically well endowed. She was a medical doctor who owned a popular and private hospital in the city with hundreds of people working for her.
- Her hospital was named after her dead twin sister and her. OliviaAmy medical home was one of the best in the city.
- Baby-faced Olivia was always causing trouble, teasing others or stuffing her mouth with junks. This behavior of hers earned her the nickname 'troublesome foodie' from her friends. She was an intelligent person and a deep-thinker.
- Sky shook her head at the playful banter among her friends. There was never a dull moment with them. They were always dramatic, annoying and playful. She shook her head inwardly as she felt an impending headache coming from the girls that afternoon.
- "Now Miss, can you kindly release me from your annoying tight hug or do you want me to suffocate to death?" Sky asked Mia as she struggled to release herself from her tight hug.
- It was of no use though. Sky struggling against Mia was like a rabbit struggling against a wolf.
- "Nope" Mia refused, resting her head on Sky's shoulder.
- "Please," Sky begged, almost miserably.
- "Not until you answer my questions." Mia said with a pout.
- Sky felt like giving Mia a hard knock on her head. She cleared her throat and decided to make Mia come off her.
- "Well, well, well. I have not been picking your calls because I was asleep and I didn't know that you called. And yes, I am very fine. No one is troubling me and I haven't been crying" Sky finally replied, lying through her teeth.
- "And your puffy cheeks?" Mia narrowed her eyes.
- "Oh! Maybe it's because I overslept last night." Sky hoped that Mia would believe her.
- Mia paused for a while as if to ascertain if she was speaking the truth or not.
- "Why? Don't you believe me?" Skylar asked.
- Mia, who was naturally talented at studying people could not be easily fooled.
- Sky felt that Mia was suspicious of her so she put up a straight face and pretended that she was saying the truth.
- Mia sighed deeply and shook her head. "Why do I feel like you aren't telling me the exact truth? Tell me Sky, are you really fine?"
- Sky felt touched by Mia's sincere words and felt her eyes sting with tears. She managed to hide her tears from Mia.
- "Believe me Mia. I am really fine" Skylar replied in a whisper.
- Mia released Sky from her tight embrace and looked intently at her.
- "Sky, no one in your shoes will be fine after all these tragedies. You lost your grandmother and your parents within a month. I know that it has been three months since their death and these past days must have been so traumatizing for you but can you not pretend that all is fine?
- I understand your pain. I can sense it, we all can sense it. You are putting up a fake facade in front of everyone. I know how depressed you are so can you at least consider booking an appointment with a therapist?" Mia spoke with a heavy heart.
- Sky remembered the morning's strange incident and debated in her heart whether to inform her friends. She soon kicked against the idea of telling them. It would only make them more worried than necessary.
- They would force her to start living with one of them and would employ bodyguards to follow her everywhere. Not wanting any of those, she vigorously shook her head in refusal to Mia's request.
- Mia sighed again and held Skylar's hands.
- "Fine, if you don't want, don't hesitate to talk to Jasmine, Olivia or me if you need help. Remember that we are friends and we will always be there for each other. We have to be honest with each other, okay?"
- Sky nodded her head like an obedient child.
- "Good" Mia said as she fondly patted Sky's hair, earning herself a glare from Skylar. Mia pinched her cheeks and they both burst out laughing. They held each other's hands and went in.
- "I thought you girls would spend a decade outside." Olivia said with a playful smirk as the two ladies walked in.
- "Are you jealous?" Sky teased her.
- Olivia shook her head and ignored her. She face her front and resumed watching the movie that was playing in the large plasma TV in the living room.
- Mia looked at Olivia and shook her head as she scoffed.
- "jealous brat," She muttered before sitting on one of the luxurious chairs in the room.
- "Whatever," Olivia rolled her eyes at Mia and turned to Sky who was looking at her friends with amusement.
- "Hey there, I am starving. Won't you prepare something for me to eat?" Olivia asked with a baby face, pouting. Jasmine almost choked on the water she was drinking and looked at Olivia with wonder, her mouth slightly open.
- Olivia noticed this and glared at her.
- "Why are you looking at me like I have grown horns on my head?"
- Jasmine burst into a derisive laugh and bent her head towards her.
- "Girl, the last time I checked, we branched at a restaurant for lunch on our way here." She reminded her.
- Olivia blinked her eyes severally before answering.
- "Well, I am not satisfied with the food and you know, Skylar has always been a great cook and I can't wait to taste her food. That's all"
- "Troublesome foodie" Mia hailed.
- Olivia grabbed her purse and threw it at Mia who cleverly dodged it. Mia picked a throw pillow and threw it at Olivia who tried to dodge it but in the process, the throw pillow hit Jasmine's face. Jasmine retaliated by throwing back to Mia.
- Soon, the three ladies were running wildly in the living room, throwing objects at each other.
- Sky tiredly watched her friends turn her painstakingly cleaned up living to a playground. Her living room was in a mess. A total mess. It was turned upside down. Sky placed her hand on her forehead as she felt a bang of headache.
