Chapter 22

• Did she grow tired of him, and he came back to her because he thought she was an old pair of shoes that would be there. He knelt down before her and took their divorce papers and tore them up in front of her. "Karen, I am sorry that I had been a fool. My sister was telling people I was seeing someone. I have been working and drowning my guilt and anguish and you were right. It was something I had to work out on my own. I left Texas and left my family because you and our kids are my real family. I don't deserve you and I understand if you don't want me back. My dad sold our home, but he had refused to send you a penny thinking you would burn through it. I didn't know. I found out everything in the last few days and realized that I made a promise to you for better or worse and I was the one to break that promise. I want you regardless, even if you fit in or not. It didn't matter before, and I refuse to blame you for something was out of your control. I want to come back home. I want you to be my wife and I want to be a better father. Allow me to spend the rest of my life making it up."
