Chapter 17

• Karen couldn't see past the darkness as she ran through the smoke and seeing the faces all around her. They had no bodies just their faces appearing through the smoke. She came to the end of the road where she couldn't past as hands were reaching for her and finally a ghostly face whose eyes were like greyish glass, his hands reached for her shirt and pulling her closer to his face. He opened his mouth as a raspy voice spoke, "Death is coming. He wants you dead like he wanted us. Look for the cave beneath the rocks. Or you will be joining us." She woke up dripping in sweat and looking around her office. She had fallen asleep at work and around her she saw the faces from the Carrington place who were in her dreams speaking to her from beyond the grave. She went straight to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face and to calm herself down. Again, flashes of lights as she closed her eyes, and she heard a gunshot then again, she felt her mother and her nephew. Her heart was racing as she went to her phone and called her mother and no answer then dialing her father there was no answer as the voicemail came on. She was about to leave a voicemail when her father was returning her call.
• "Your mother is fine as is your nephew. He was shot and is now paralyzed."
• "Ethan. He was shot in the arm then momma shot him in the back, didn't she?"
