Chapter 9

  • Things were finally calming down in Woodland Creek. Though Tabitha Moore murder case was still open. Her killer was still at large; no one heard anything else about Ethan Parker. The agents were on National television doing an interview to get some media coverage. Karen turned off the television so that she could finish getting dressed. Gretchen and Eric were having a small wedding. Later that day she would be meeting Gregory's family for the first time. She was supposed to have already met them but the last couple of months had been overwhelming for her. She was dressed in a light pink sweetheart dress and Gregory was tuxedo that was a rental. He stated he wasn't buying one until he it was his turn to say, "I do". They arrived at the church and were rushing inside to make sure everything was set up. Fifteen minutes later Gretchen was coming in with her was her daughter, Gwen. Her parents came in after her to help in any they could. About forty minutes later they were waiting on Eric to show up and Gretchen was pacing with tears. He had called her dad an hour ago saying that he had to make one stop but hadn't called since. Gregory and Gretchen's father were driving over to where Eric said he had to go but nothing yet. Karen got a chill running down her spine and she looked at the door and seen a black shadow. She blinked a few times and she had went pale as she saw it taking form on the porch. She walked out on the porch and watched it disappear like into thin air. She grabbed the phone and called the sheriff but again nothing. Gregory went with Gretchen's father and left his truck. She went to his truck and saw that he had left the keys. Gretchen came out, "Where are you going?"
  • "Please, just stay here okay."
  • Karen pulled out of the drive way and drove quickly. She didn't know where she was going only that something was pulling her as if directing her in the right direction. Again up the road she saw the black midst as she had seen at the church. She kept driving until she pulled up a dirt road. she grabbed the gun that she kept on her side of the car and started walking again she got flashes of light. She saw the old house and saw Eric laying on the floor and blood. She saw someone at the flight of stairs and pointing a gun out the window. Then she turned and going through a different way. She looked up and saw the backside of the house and walking carefully. She was about to step out of the wood line, but she stopped. She just stopped frozen. She felt like a deer as the predator wasn't that far away. Karen backed away when a shot was fired and where she was standing right before she moved a bullet hit the tree instead of her head. She quickly ducked down and started moving to where she saw the midst. Her back was against the back of the house when she heard the door being slammed.
