Chapter 9 Don't Fall for Dimitri

  • Dimitri spoke in a rather suspicious tone before Leah had the chance to defend herself. "How can you tell that the art is fake?" he asked. Leah felt her heart sinking. Can Dimitri tell that the art is fake too? "The details aren't right," Selena replied. However, the truth was that the real item was with Selena. Leah must be an idiot. How did she spend 30 million on a fake?
  • After that, Selena simply headed to one of the private rooms on the second floor. "Dimitri, this piece of art…" Leah started.
  • Dimitri had been to the restaurant in the past, and he already knew that the art was fake. However, he had never bothered to expose Leah. "You should get someone to check it," he uttered before pressing his lips together. Then, he headed upstairs without saying anything else. Leah felt extremely uneasy then. If this piece of art isn't authentic, I wonder how many people have actually found out it's a fake. Wouldn't us Olsens be a joke to others if they found out about it?
  • Meanwhile, Dimitri gave Selena a long, thoughtful look after he arrived at their private room. "I never knew that people from the village could learn skills like playing the piano and admiring art," he uttered.
  • "You shouldn't look down on us villagers, Dimitri. Back then, when the Youngs went bankrupt, my parents left my grandmother a large sum of money to take me away from the city. I learned a great deal of stuff while living in the village," she replied. Then, she looked at him with a smile on her face. "Of course, I'm also naturally smart. Do you think any of those wealthy girls are better than me, Dimitri? I'm not that bad, am I? Perhaps you can consider liking me," she continued.
  • "No way," the man replied almost instantly. If anything, Dimitri only found Selena more suspicious than before. She probably knew about this marriage a long time ago. She must have been preparing to marry into the Hayden Family for a long time, he thought. There's no way I'm going to fall for a woman like her.
  • Selena was speechless. The corner of her lips twitched with annoyance as she stared at the man. I'm going to make you regret your words someday, Dimitri! After Leah ordered someone to take the art down for it to be tested, she joined the couple in the private room. The dishes had already been served by then.
  • Leah had intended to embarrass Selena at the restaurant, but she hadn't expected Selena to have such elegant table manners. When she thought of what happened with the art earlier, she gritted her teeth in anger. She felt like she had dug her own grave. While Leah and Dimitri were busy talking about work, Selena didn't join in their conversation at all. She stood up and went to the washroom after she had finished eating.
  • When Selena came out, she noticed a man dressed in a casual outfit and a baseball cap. He was wearing a mask that covered the bottom half of his face. Selena narrowed her eyes when she met his gaze. The man reached his hand out to pass an item to her while he spoke in a hushed tone. "That person told you to leave one pill in Old Mr. Hayden's water each month."
  • As they brushed past each other, the man spoke again. "He also told me to remind you not to fall in love with Dimitri."
  • Selena didn't say anything—she simply gave the man a blank stare before she put the bottle of pills in her bag and walked away. The three of them headed back to the office after they were done with their food. When they arrived at the lobby, Leah received the news from the person she had hired to check the art. It was confirmed—the art was a fake. Leah's face turned sour.
  • Selena, on the other hand, seemed to be in a good mood. "You should be careful in the future, Miss Olsen. You shouldn't waste millions just to show your stupidity!" she uttered with a smile.
  • "You—" Leah felt the urge to lose her temper at Selena, but she ended up stopping herself because Dimitri was beside her.
