Chapter 4 Stay Away From Her

  • Wasn't the girl from the village supposed to be grimy, ugly, and unpresentable? Selena was the complete opposite—her beauty was stunning. Right when the crowd was gasping over Selena's beauty, a woman dressed in a pink outfit walked over while glancing at Dimitri sweetly. "Hey, Dimitri," she uttered while sending Selena a dirty glare. "I have no idea what Grandpa's thinking. It's so shameful for a man of the Hayden Family to get married to a woman like that. Isn't it right, Dimitri?"
  • Dimitri simply acted as if he didn't hear Denise Hayden's words. Selena, too, didn't seem to mind Denise's mocking remark. "So, this is how the Haydens educate their younger generation, huh? I'm your sister-in-law, Denise. You can at least refer to me by my name if you don't want to call me Mrs. Hayden. Anyway, how have I embarrassed your family so far? Can't you tell that the rest of those rich girls over there are envious of me?" she uttered.
  • "You—" Denise was fuming. How dare this woman say that I'm not well-educated! She's just some village girl without a college degree! She has no right to brag! "Dimitri!" She turned to look at her brother helplessly. Selena wasn't interested in continuing the fight, so she walked off with a smile as she went to look for some food. Dimitri's gaze was dark as he spoke to Denise. "You should stay away from her," he suggested.
  • Meanwhile, Selena had just got herself a piece of cake when she heard a woman's voice behind her. "Hello, Miss Young." When she turned around to meet gazes with the woman, the woman's wine glass fell onto the floor. Naomi was dressed in a black, tight-fitting gown, and her delicate features were twisted into one of shock. Isn't that… Selena? Selena noticed the stunned look in Naomi's eyes, but she simply responded with a polite smile, "Hey, is anything the matter?"
  • Naomi immediately came to her senses before smiling at the other woman. "I'm Naomi Quinn, Mr. Wright's wife. I'm sorry; I thought you looked a little like a good friend of mine, Miss Young. My apologies for that."
  • "It's fine," Selena replied. Ever since Selena 'died' in the fire, Morgan successfully took over the Walsh Corporation before hosting a grand marriage with Naomi. However, after Morgan took over the company, the business had been going downhill. They had been trying to build connections with Dimitri, but they had been rejected a few times, so they had no choice but to start by getting to know his fiancée.
  • Naomi was filled with worry for a moment before her face finally lit up as if she had thought of something. She then took another two wine glasses from a waiter's tray. "It must have been a while since you returned to Astonville, Miss Young. If you wish to shop around or get pampered, you can always get me to accompany you," Naomi offered with a smile. Then, she handed a glass of wine to Selena.
  • However, her hand slipped, and the wine in the glass ended up all over Selena's dress. "Ah! Oh no. I'm so sorry, Miss Young. Let me head upstairs with you to get you changed," Naomi offered. Selena's gaze darkened when she saw her dirtied outfit, and she paused for a moment before she took another glass of wine and splashed it all over Naomi's face.
  • Naomi was too stunned to react. "Miss Young, you—"
  • "Oh no! I'm sorry, Miss Quinn. I didn't mean to do this either. By the way, I don't just make friends with some random nobodies," Selena uttered before walking off. Naomi clenched her fists as red wine dripped down her chin. Her face was blue with rage. Naomi had known Selena for years, and she knew that Selena had a red birthmark on her back. She had intended to spill the wine on Selena's outfit and help her to get changed—she wanted to see if Serena was related to Selena in any way. However, she hadn't expected the woman to respond that way.
