Chapter 6 Who Gave You Permission?

  • "In your dreams," Dimitri replied. Selena stared at him speechlessly. The crowd applauded after Leah was done with her song. She was the Young Lady of the Olsen Family and also the chief designer at Hayden Corporation, so there were quite a few men interested in her. Leah smirked as she got off the stage. "It's your turn, Miss Young."
  • Selena felt like she had no choice but to walk over to the piano. She slowly sat down in front of it. Denise tugged on Leah's arm as she chuckled. "Look at that woman. She looks more like a decorative piece than an actual human in front of that piano. I wonder if she'll even be able to play anything! You're winning this challenge for sure, Leah."
  • Moments later, the soothing sound of the piano filled the hall. There were tons of well-educated and wealthy individuals in the crowd, so they immediately recognized the famous tune of 'Moonlight Sonata' when they heard it. This song was extremely hard to play on the piano, and there were only a limited number of people who could handle such a piece. However, Selena managed to nail every single part of the song, letting the tune of the romantic yet sorrowful piece fill the hall. The song somewhat suited the woman in the bright red dress on the stage—the crowd was mesmerized both by her playing and by her stunning looks.
  • Even Dimitri couldn't help but look at the woman in front of the piano. Serena never fails to surprise me, he thought. The crowd was still immersed in the music even after it ended, and they were all silent for a moment before the hall roared with applause. Selena beamed before she spoke into the microphone. "I'd like to thank everyone for spending your precious time here to witness me and Mr. Hayden's engagement. I'd also like to thank Miss Olsen for challenging me to the piano—she gave me a chance to perform."
  • Leah's face turned sour when she heard Selena's words. The fact that she had lost to some village girl felt like a fierce slap across her cheek. "I grew up in a village, and there were a lot of things I didn't know how to do. I'm very honored to be Mr. Hayden's fiancée, and I hope I get to learn a thing or two from all of you guys here one day." The hint of sarcasm in the woman's voice was apparent, and it told the crowd that Selena wasn't someone they could mess with.
  • Even though there was a big smile on Selena's face as she walked down the stage, her eyes seemed to glint with a threatening look for a brief moment. Neither Selena nor Serena was someone others could mess with now! After the event was over, Selena bid goodbye to Jason before leaving the place with Dimitri. It was dark by the time they got back to Hayden Residence, and Dimitri headed straight to his study. Meanwhile, the housekeeper, Sandra, brought Selena to her room.
  • The room was very spacious, and it was designed in a simple yet elegant manner. Selena eyed her surroundings and quickly realized that the room belonged to Dimitri. However, she didn't leave the room—instead, she took her pajamas out of her luggage and headed to the washroom. She took a nice shower before drying her hair. The nude-colored nightgown made her look extremely sexy.
  • When she sat down by the side of the bed, she noticed a teddy bear keychain that was placed by the bedside table. She picked it up and inspected it for a moment. Isn't this the birthday gift I got for myself when I turned 18? There's the same letter S imprinted at the bottom of the teddy bear—Dad was the one who got someone to custom-make this overseas.
  • Selena frowned. She was wondering how her missing keychain had ended up in this room when she heard a man's deep voice. "Who gave you permission to touch my things, Serena?"
