Chapter 8 Fake Piece of Art

  • Denise found herself soaked in the lukewarm coffee. "Ahh! Serena, have you lost your mind?" Selena leaned against the desk as she curled her lips into a smile. "No. How's the temperature, Denise? It's not too cold or too hot, is it? How perfect!" Denise used a tissue to wipe her face. Her makeup had been smeared by the coffee, and she looked like a complete mess. "Alright, Serena. I'm going to—" Denise stood up as she spoke through gritted teeth.
  • "You're going to tell your brother about it, huh? Sure, go ahead. I suppose that's all you've got, huh, Miss Hayden? If you're that great, why don't you come at me without whining to Dimitri like a crybaby?" Selena uttered with a smile and a provocative look on her face. After she finished her words, she walked off in her heels. Denise was left alone, her face red with fury. And there was no one else who came to bother Selena until lunchtime.
  • During the lunch break, Selena caught Leah walking into the president's office. What's that sly witch trying to do? she wondered. At that thought, Selena followed Leah in, only to hear Leah talking to Dimitri. "Do you want to join me for lunch, Dimitri? I'd like to talk to you about the design draft for the next Paris Tournament." Before he could say anything, Selena interrupted their conversation. "Ah, Miss Olsen. What a coincidence. I was here to ask Dimitri for lunch as well. Why don't we all eat together?"
  • When Leah saw Selena walking in, a rather displeased look formed on her face. She forced a smile as she spoke. "I don't think that's a good idea. I want to talk to Dimitri about work," she replied.
  • "Why isn't it a good idea? You guys can talk about work while I eat. Don't you agree, Dimitri?" Selena turned to give Dimitri a wink. He pressed his lips together before grabbing his coat. "Let's go," he muttered. The three of them headed out of the office. As they were walking out of the elevator, Selena hastily slipped her arm around Dimitri's. "Let go of me," the man ordered in his deep voice.
  • "I don't want to. You're my fiancé. What's wrong with me holding your arm? It's not like I didn't touch you yesterday," Selena replied. Dimitri's face darkened. This woman is getting more and more daring by the minute. The workers in the lobby all gave Selena envious glances. Meanwhile, Leah felt herself fuming with anger as she tagged along behind them. She had finally found an opportunity to have a meal with Dimitri, but she didn't expect Selena to show up out of nowhere!
  • Intending to make things hard for Selena, Leah decided to pick a high-end Western restaurant. She beamed once the three of them arrived at the entrance of the restaurant. "Since you grew up in a village, you've probably never come to a restaurant like this for a meal, right, Miss Young? This place belongs to my family, so you can just mention my name if you ever want to eat here," Leah offered.
  • Upon hearing Leah's words, Selena simply looked up and stared at her as if she was an idiot. Then, Selena made her way upstairs. However, she halted her footsteps right after turning a corner—she had stopped to admire a scenic painting on the wall. A sarcastic look flashed across Leah's gaze, but she kept a smile as she said, "Oh, Miss Young even knows how to admire art, huh? I bought this piece from overseas for a total of 30 million. I got it for my dad."
  • "30 million?" Selena asked.
  • "Yeah." Leah had a smug look on her face. She was certain that 30 million was a huge number for Selena. However, Selena simply curled her lips into a smirk. "Are you sure this didn't just cost 3,000?"
  • "What do you mean?" Leah's face fell for a moment. "This art is a fake. If you don't want to embarrass yourself, you should take it down and get a professional to check the legitimacy of this piece, Miss Olsen," Selena said.
  • Did she say that this piece of art is fake? How could that be? Leah thought.
