- With a gentle click, Sophie's apartment door closed behind me, but the raging storm inside my chest would not calm. As if he hadn't been the subject of half of my breakdown, Dave stood next to the car with his arms crossed and his eyes unflappable. I climbed in, quiet, thoughtful.
- I leaned my forehead to the cool glass window and watched the city blur by as the SUV backed away from the curb. The flash drive weighed a lot in my mind, and I was thinking about it much more. My father’s name. A tampered file. Secrets buried under layers of guilt, time, and silence. We were missing something, a password, the final piece.
