• The door clicked shut behind Amelia, and I didn’t move. Jenna did.
• She retreated from me like if I had scorched her. She spoke as though the fire that had just engulfed us had turned to ash. With the buttons trembling between her fingers, she fumbled for her blouse. She never once gave me a look. She pulled her skirt back down her hips, adjusting it as if it might undo the previous events, but not even when she stood with her eyes fixed on the ground.
