• I stood in front of the Lycan King’s door, balancing the tray of food in my hands. The scent of roasted meat and herbs curled in the air, but I barely noticed it. My heart was beating too fast.
• It had been two days since he last summoned me. Two days of silence. That was unlike him. Normally, even if he didn’t call me for anything else, he never missed a meal. Yet, tonight, he still hasn't shown sign of being available and I had begun to wonder.
