• I had stationed high security throughout the border and beyond, every soldier placed with precision, every watchpoint fortified. We were a kingdom bracing for bloodshed, a predator crouched in silence, waiting for a misstep. I wanted them to return to the crime scene, to grow bold enough to slip up, because if they did, they wouldn’t make it out alive. The orders were simple: capture, interrogate, and eliminate if necessary. Mercy was not on the table this time.
• Ivy… she had been the easiest one to corner. Almost too easy, like she wanted to be caught. That in itself made me suspicious of her. Still, she was now in my possession; broken, shackled, and silenced. She was a pawn, but an important one, a thread that could unravel everything if tugged correctly.
