Chapter 10 I Love My Husband

  • Mu Zhi stared at Lu Junnian. He had practically roared, leaving her stunned for a moment, not knowing what to say next.
  • Mu Zhi only got back to her senses when the car stopped in front of a jewelry shop and Lu Junnian got down.
  • She raised her head to look at him, thought for a second and said, “We cannot go back to what we were anymore.”
  • “Why not?”
  • Lu Junnian stared at Mu Zhi, his eyes blazed with cold determination.
  • Mu Zhi bit her lip, lowered her head and hesitated, “Because I love my husband very much.”
  • She could only use this sort of reason to prevaricate Lu Junnian. Mu Zhi knew that residual love existed between the both of them, other than her resentment towards Lu Junnian.
  • Lu Junnian was not the same as Xu Changshu. She hated Xu Changshu, but she did not want Lu Junnian to be forced into betwixt and between them.
  • In the future, she would resolve everything between her and Xu Changshu. What Lu Junnian thought of his mother was none of her business.
  • After Mu Zhi had said all that, Lu Junnian looked more distant. He straightaway dragged Mu Zhi into the jewelry shop without giving her a chance for another say.
  • “Bring me a hundred of the most expensive rings you have here.”
  • He spoke as if he was attempting a robbery. If it weren’t for his upscale regalia and his noble semblance, the sales assistant would have rung the police.
  • Mu Zhi struggled to pull her hand out of Lu Junnian’s, while looking at the sales assistant.
  • “There’s no need to, I won’t pick a ring.”
  • “Pick. I’ve thrown yours away, I shall compensate you.”
  • Lu Junnian would not let Mu Zhi go, and insisted on keeping her there.
  • Mu Zhi did not take a single glance at the ring. Was it a ring she wanted? What could a ring speak for?
  • She had longed to marry him in the past. But now… She could not, and did not desire so anymore.
  • Lu Junnian saw Mu Zhi’s reluctance, so he had the sales assistant take a ring and handed it to Mu Zhi, beckoning her to try it on.
  • This ring did not have the shop’s largest diamond on it, but it had the best design.
  • It portrayed Lu Junnian’s impression of Mu Zhi. She was like the ring, clear and distinct.
  • However, Mu Zhi only flashed briefly at the ring before letting the sales assistant put it back. She then turned around to leave.
  • Lu Junnian stopped Mu Zhi once more, “Why, don’t you like this ring?”
  • Mu Zhi looked at Lu Junnian, “Please stop this nonsense, it’s pointless.”
  • “Pointless? You said you loved your husband, and I don’t believe you at all.”
  • Lu Junnian turned Mu Zhi around and looked at her, “I know that you wouldn’t fall in love with anyone except me.”
  • “My lady.”
  • At the exact moment, before Mu Zhi responded, a voice came from behind.
  • Mu Zhi could recognize the voice. It was Lu Jinye’s chauffeur. She turned around hurriedly, thinking that Lu Jinye was here, but only to see the chauffeur alone.
  • He walked towards Mu Zhi slowly and handed her the ring which she had lost.
  • “The chairman said not to lose it next time. Although the ring is not valuable, your love is.”
  • Lu Jinye did not come, but the driver had meant that he had seen her and Lu Junnian’s spectacle from the very beginning.
  • After saying this, the chauffeur turned around and left.
  • Mu Zhi hurried out along with the chauffeur when Lu Junnian did not notice.
  • Lu Junnian naturally followed suit.
  • A Maybach was parked not far away outside the door. Mu Zhi quickly walked towards the direction of Lu Jinye, but Lu Jinye did not get off the car.
  • Before Mu Zhi could open the door, Lu Junnian knocked onto the car window and said to the person inside, “Get off.”
  • “Stop fooling around!”
  • At the same time, Mu Zhi walked to the other side and got into the car.
  • The chauffeur ignored Lu Junnian and got into the car too.
  • Inside the car, Lu Junnian’s face was cold like frost. He did not show any intention on opening the window, and told the driver, “Drive. Let’s go.”
