Chapter 27 The Rival

  • FREDDIE Freddie felt so at peace as the sea breeze blew cold into his face. He's on a ship with Damian, heading to Canada. He had earlier informed Nick about their location, so he's on another ship coming with them. Damian took different guards with him entirely. He doesn't travel to different towns or countries using the same type of security men. That was something he had come to observe about him. No wonder he didn't take those guards he shared the same hotel with. It was just him, because he was his personal bodyguard, I guessed. The journey on a cruise ship was actually fun. He was not dressed in a suit but shorts and a shirt. Damian, on the other hand, wore blue jeans and a long white sleeved shirt. He stood watching the sea from the other end of the boat, while he stood at the other. He used the opportunity to admire him. Looking at him from the angle he was, he could tell that Damian wore a sad expression.
  • He must be feeling alone. If someone who knew nothing about him were to observe him from his angle, one would think Damian was the most handsome and innocent person ever, owing to how calm and focused he looked while staring at the sea. Freddie could not tell what pushed him, but he found himself walking towards Damian's direction. When he got to where he stood, he took his gaze at the water. "You look like an ocean lover," Freddie muttered, still gazing at the sea. Damian took a quick glance at him. "Course I am. I love the ocean because it's the only peaceful element on earth." Huh? That was new. He never knew his likeness, for the ocean was deeper than he imagined. It must hold a powerful meaning for him. "I don't see much beauty about the ocean, apart from the fact that it always carries cold and fresh air to your face." "That's exactly why I admire the ocean. The cool breeze bathes your skin. It makes you feel refined, fresh and free." The last statement caught his attention, but he was just going to act as though he did not hear anything.
  • Talking about not seeing much beauty of the ocean was a complete lie from him. There is practically nothing as beautiful as the ocean right at that moment. Though he wondered why he added freedom to his list of words in describing the ocean. He wondered if it had anything to do with his past life. "Damian, just how many secrets do you have hidden?" Freddie asked in his thoughts. He guesses he would find out about that pretty soon. "Tell me, Max, why aren't you married yet?" Woah! That wasn't a question he was expecting to be asked. He could see at that point that his gaze had settled on him. Can it get any worse? It seemed like Damian was trying to invade his privacy with every little opportunity he got. "Well, I've been in quite a few relationships. It never worked out as I expected it would." He slowly took his gaze to Damian's only to see him staring back at him. At that very moment, he couldn't tell what had really transpired between them. But he found it hard to tear his gaze away from his. Damian stared deeply into his eyes, just as he got lost in his. This wasn't the normal feeling of lust like it used to be. This was quite strange and extraordinary. After staring at each other's eyes for like forever, the boat suddenly hit a rock, thereby bringing them back to reality. What was that? Why was their stare so intense suddenly? It was time to get down from the ship, so they waited for the ship to get to shore, and once it did? They quickly got off.
