Chapter 26 Jealousy

  • FREDDIE
  • He began to shoot with ease after being trained for more than a month. He finally showed his skills at shooting. Though, not those extraordinary moves he learned before working for Damian. Revealing those skills was as good as exposing himself, which would make him prone to suspicion. "So, Derrick told me that you are very good with a gun now," Damian stated while sipping his wine. "Well, I can't really say that for sure. I just did as I was taught. "Okay, we will see about that." "Huh?" Damian stared at him, but he couldn't actually tell what he was thinking about at that moment. "What I'm trying to say is that you are coming with me to the shooting range. I have to see for myself how far you've improved. " What?! Is he going to do the testing himself? Okay, there's nothing to worry about. Since he was able to survive Derrick without being found out, he was very sure he could do that with Damian without getting caught as well. They headed to the shooting range some couple of hours later. "Nice to see you here, boss," Derrick scurried towards them, smiling delightfully. "Since you said my bodyguard is better now, I want to test his skills to know if you've been good or slacking off." Derrick chuckled at what Damian said. "Then I hope he does exactly as i taught him to save me from getting sacked. You heard that, Max. Do your best to save my sorry ass."
  • " Good you know the deal." What? Was it that bad that he could make Derrick lose his job? That was more serious than he had thought. Actually, training under Derrick had made him learn so many things about Derrick in a short time and from the little he found out about the guy, he could tell that Ramon never really wanted to become a marksman coach. He guessed everyone had a reason for doing what they did. He wondered what Damian's reasons were for becoming a Mafia Lord. Derrick brought them the ear protection materials. They quickly put them on and prepared for the game. "Okay, Max, show me what you've got." He targeted the board and took three shots. Damian seemed to be observing his posture and probably how he handled the gun. Those were some of the basics he was taught. Damian took his gaze to the board where he hit his target. Three hits were successful but he purposefully missed the last. No matter the magic that might be used or the hardcore training undergone, no one can master handling a gun in a month. Soon he had to make his training more realistic. "Impressive, Max," Damian praised. "You did a great job, Derrick, just as expected, you taught him well. However, he missed one out of four, which is understandable as a beginner. Good job!" Phew! Thank goodness he thought everything through before coming.
