- Two weeks. That's how long I'd been gone, though to me it felt much longer. My stay in Paris had been all about business, meetings, and endless dinners with people in suits who thought too highly of themselves, and the late nights staring at the hotel ceiling thinking of home. But as soon as the wheels of Micheal’s jet touched down in New York, my chest ached with a kind of relief I couldn't put into words. I wasn't thinking about contracts or deals anymore. I was thinking only about my daughter.
