Chapter 11

  • Emma ignored the guilt that was trying to tell her she was lazy for sleeping until noon—she had a good reason for sleeping late.
  • She checked her job posts while she mulled over everything that had happened the night before. Not finding any replies, she moved on to old news stories hoping to find something about Bryce’s disappearance. The internet may not have been around at the capacity it was today, but everything was on the net somewhere even things that happened long before the www world began. The problem with doing a search for the name Lawson was the billions of hits that came up, so narrowing it down with more key words took her down to a few thousand. And that turned out to be several hundred more than she felt like going through.
  • When she entered the year into the equation, it yielding nothing—never had she had a time on line when the search engines found nothing. Why couldn’t there be answers for this? Whatever Bryce had done, it surely didn’t warrant what he’d been going through for longer then she’d been alive. She didn’t really know him, but it bothered her that she wasn’t able to do something. What would happen if they didn’t find the answer before she had to leave?
