Chapter 5

  • The doctor quickly came to me to check my condition when he saw trouble.
  • Holly stood by, her eyes turning red with anger.
  • Ever since she was young, as long as she crooked her finger and acted pitiful, men would flock around her.
  • This was the first time a man dared to treat her like this.
  • The handsome guy even treated her useless sister so gently.
  • When Alex saw this, he thought Holly's red eyes were due to pain.
  • So, he helped Holly up, glaring at Jasper and threatening coldly, "This woman must have lied to you about being the heiress of the Miller family, making you protect her. In fact, she's a criminal and has no inheritance rights."
  • Presumptuously, he said, "I advise you to leave quickly, or don't blame me for being rude to you."
  • With that, he picked up Holly and walked towards me.
  • Holly's sweet hums and Alex's voice completely triggered my already fragile nerves.
  • When Holly came in front of me, my chest suddenly cramped.
  • A large amount of blood mixed with undigested food residue in my stomach sprayed all over Holly.
  • Her expensive haute couture dress instantly became stained.
  • "Ah!" She jumped off Alex instantly, screaming as she used a handkerchief to wipe off the vomit and blood on her dress.
  • Ethan, who had just gotten out of the car, saw this scene.
  • He hurried over to accompany Holly, but when he saw that the person lying on the stretcher was me, he instantly burst into anger.
  • "You uncultured waste, you’re embarrassing yourself and bullying Holly again!"
  • He angrily approached me, wanting to slap me as usual, but his hand was stopped in mid-air.
  • A bony hand firmly grabbed his wrist.
  • Jasper exuded a strong aura, which directly stunned Ethan.
  • "Take a good look. She's vomiting blood. How is she bullying anyone?"
  • Ethan furrowed his brows and shook his wrist, but Jasper still held onto it tightly.
  • "I advise you to mind your own business. You have no idea how good she is at acting."
  • Ethan continued, "I know her very well. How many times has she used her pitiful act to bully Holly? Get out of my way. I must teach her a lesson!"
  • When Jasper still didn’t move, Ethan screamed, "Don't block me! What has she given you to make you willing to act with her? Are you that desperate for money? I'll pay you double. Now get lost!"
  • Jasper completely ignored him, forcefully blocking them in front, waiting for the doctor to check my condition.
  • Staring coldly at Holly, she suddenly realized how out of line she had just been. Quickly lowering her voice, she pretended to limp towards Jasper, clutching her leg in a show of grievance. Just as she was about to fall into his arms, Jasper sidestepped, causing Holly to awkwardly bump into the doorframe.
  • Suppressing her anger, she still spoke in a pitiful tone, saying, "I was just so worried about my sister that I tripped. My fingers were seriously injured, so I hurried to the hospital to check on them."
  • "Mr. J.D., I'm not just your fan, but I’m also a musician like you. You know how important hands are to us. My brothers were just too worried about me."
  • Casually revealing her so-called fan identity, she even referred to herself, a new music major, as a musician. However, Jasper wasn't buying it at all. He coldly snorted and said, "I thought you didn't trip over your feet and hands but your head."
  • Jasper looked at her icily. "I saw you hopping around just fine, and your fingers were quite nimble when you were wiping your skirt. It seems your sister's vomit is quite beneficial to you, curing you. You should thank her."
  • "And also,” he added, “you don't seem to have any musical works, do you? Please don't disgrace the term 'musician.'"
  • I never expected Jasper to be so sarcastic. Even lying on the stretcher, I couldn't help but laugh. This was the first time someone had stood up against Holly for me.
  • In that moment, it felt like something was blooming in my heart, releasing immense warmth. I drifted into unconsciousness, not afraid or despairing, but rather peacefully falling asleep.
  • Alex and Ethan couldn't bear to see their beloved Holly being insulted like this. They rolled up their sleeves, ready to confront Jasper.
  • At that moment, the hospital director hurried over and reprimanded everyone, "No fighting in my hospital! This is a place to heal and save lives!"
  • He then came to me, his expression turning serious and his tone filled with concern. "Aside from the overdose of sleeping pills mentioned on the phone, are there any other precautions for the patient?"
  • The doctor pulled up my medical records, sounding anxious as he said, "Director, the patient has slipped into a coma! She's in shock! Her blood pressure and heart rate are very concerning. Although Mr. Jasper Dawson stabilized her with emergency medication, she has late-stage lung cancer and just finished chemotherapy last Wednesday."
  • "She's also been taking antidepressants and suffers from severe insomnia,” the doctor explained. “She was just agitated by these people! Director, the situation is very serious!"
  • Hearing this, Alex and Ethan both stood still in shock.
  • A fleeting look of guilt crossed Holly's face, unnoticed by the others.
  • Alex was the first to react, sneering.
  • "Emily is just a liar. Even if she said she was dying today, I wouldn't pity her!"
  • "She's from the Miller family, but she’s always playing the victim since we met, saying she works three jobs a day just to afford food!"
  • "It started getting worse six months ago, even faking coughing up blood from time to time."
  • "Today, not only did she collude with a has-been singer, but she even forged medical records."
  • Listening to Alex, Ethan's expression turned sour.
  • In a lowered voice, somewhat reluctantly, he said, "Because she didn't get into a top university, Emily was kicked out by our family... Mom really did stop giving her any money."
  • "She... didn't lie..."
