• Kayden's boots pounded the forest floor as he stormed away, his wolf Xander growling in frustration inside him. The mate bond between him and Alana pulsed with tension, like a raw nerve exposed to the air. Kayden's anger and hurt simmered just below the surface, fueled by the images of Alana with Braxton.
• "Can you at least make me understand why you’re defending her?" Kayden snarled, his voice low and menacing. "After everything she did? You think she's innocent?"
