Chapter 53
- ‘Children with emergency needs will be admitted to my hospital wing and given appropriate medical care. Children with extreme emergency needs will be transferred to the children’s hospital under a false name. The children who are admitted to my hospital wing will not be moved out until they are stable and able to meet most of their basic needs appropriate for their age.
- All of the kids will spend at least a month in the pack house while we wait for blood work to reveal their rank and identity. The council will attempt to find family members in a different pack to reunite the kids with. If none are discovered then they will remain in my care receiving therapy and slowly reintroducing what their life is supposed to be. Once they are able to handle going to school regularly and show a solid understanding of the pack’s rules, expectations and schedule they will be matched with a short term foster inside my territory.
- How long they stay in the pack house will depend on the age of the child, severity of abuse and neglect, and foster family availability. Unfortunately, due to the size of my pack the council will only allow me to keep the highest ranked pups, mostly alphas and betas, based on birth rank. All others, within six months to a year after they come to me, will go to other packs four to six hours away. Families have more choice in the matter but the majority choose to take the first pack they are offered.’
