Chapter 47 We Need Rules
- Seraphina sat on the edge of her bed and staring at her reflection in the mirror. The day replayed itself in a dozen impossible ways, the flash of cameras, the interviewer’s startled look. She still hadn’t shaken the memory of Nicholas’s lips on hers in front of the flashing lights. She hated him for it… and hated herself more for how her lips still tingled from the kiss.
- There was no denying it now. Nicholas had forced her hand in public, and as much as she wanted to scream and deny everything, that would only make things worse. If she wanted to survive this storm without losing everything she’d worked for, she would have to go along with it. Even if that meant publicly dating Nicholas Sterling.
- She told herself she could ride it out, but she knew the simplest way out of this was to quit. Walk away before the rumors buried her, sign off on the last Luilui campaign and disappear. But Luilui wasn’t a small client. It was the biggest skincare brand on her calendar, the one that could guarantee her independence even without a Sterling name attached, and she had contracts, promises, and deadlines.
