Chapter 26 A Step Back In Time (V6)

• The TV in Lorenzo’s office flickered as the evening news came on, the anchor’s tone grave and urgent. "In breaking news, local hospitals are being overwhelmed as young adults, many of them drug addicts, are rushed in with severe symptoms. Doctors are baffled by a new, deadly substance hitting the streets, leading to multiple fatalities in just the past 24 hours. Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious."
• Lorenzo leaned back in his chair, cigar in hand, staring at the screen with a cold, calculating gaze. The sight of young lives snuffed out should have stirred something in him, but he knew that the underground world thrived on the weak. His mind wandered back to his troubles, grieving over recent losses and with his own empire still shaken.
• Suddenly, the door creaked open, and two of Lorenzo's men, Paolo and Orlando, rushed into the room, their faces unhappy.
