Chapter 22 A Step Back In Time (V2)

• In the aftermath of the attempt on his life, Lorenzo Moretti found himself in his private study, his mind racing with possibilities. The study glowing with candlelit light, with its walls lined with shelves of large history books, had always been his sanctuary, a place where he could think clearly, away from the noise of the outside world. He took a deep drag from his cigar as he considered the implications of the recent events. Antonio, his brother, most trusted confidant and right-hand man, stood nearby, waiting for instructions.
• "Antonio," Lorenzo began, his voice steady but with a sense of tension, "this attempt on my life is more than just a random act of violence. It’s a message. Someone out there is making a bold move against us, and I need to know who."
• Antonio nodded. "I’ve already started looking into it, Lorenzo. We’ll find out who’s behind this. I’ll double the security around the mansion, but I’ll also send some of our best men to gather information. We can’t afford any more surprises."
