- I could feel the tension in the room. All eyes were on me. The elders of the council, the woman who was kneeling on the wooden floor, and most importantly Dane. He wasn't just staring at me. He was glaring. I could feel my heart thumping hard against my chest.
- I had heard everything that woman had said about that night. And it was weird because I couldn’t remember anything that happened that night. It all seemed like a blur to me. But there was one thing I remembered perfectly and that was my red heel. It was indeed the heel I had worn back here. And how it had ended up at the pack that night, I wasn’t so sure. But I couldn’t let them know this. I was scared that Dane wasn’t going to believe anything that I had said. And so the only thing I could do in this tense situation was to laugh.
