Chapter 7 Visit in the office

  • I had no idea how quickly the days and weeks had flown. Mommy Amelia hasn't returned since I first saw Charlotte's name. Aunt Helena, on the other hand, never contacted me about what she had said about going out to talk. Archer never visited me, either.
  • Randall is standing in front of the mirror, adjusting his black tuxedo tie. He will begin working immediately because he has already taken his one-month vacation. He'll also have to coordinate the final partnership between the two companies.
  • Randall turned on me. I was leaning on the king-size bed while holding a magazine whose content was our company. Ever since I got uptight about him restricting me to find out about the company, since then, he hasn’t stopped me from gathering information.
  • He undercut his hair, wearing office and attire partners with his black shoes. He looks dashing.
  • Not only that, but he sat next to me, while his feet were still on the floor. He pecked me on the forehead of the nose, and the kiss lasted on the lips.
  • Nothing has happened in the month that Randall and I have been together at home. I was also reassured by him since I knew if he was concealing something, he would not allow me to get information. Even though I'm almost out of the red capsule Aunt Helena gave me, I still don't say anything to him about it.
  • When he spoke, I was in the middle of a thought. “You must be present when I take over as CEO next week. I'll publicize my wife's beauty to the whole world. Of how thoughtful and caring she is.”
  • I tucked the magazine into my thigh area and gently stroked Randall's cheeks. “Of course, I'll do it. What kind of wife misses her husband's happiest day?”
  • “No,” he responded, planting his cheek on the palm that had grasped him. “My finest day was when we stood before God on the altar, made a vow to each other, and exchanged rings.”
  • My cheeks flushed, and my heart raced. Regardless, I have no recollection of meeting Randall or any of our happy memories. I can say that I'm satisfied. He didn't make me feel threatened by his mother's words. Every day, he feeds me with love and attention.
  • He appreciates everything I do. I'm grateful and feel appreciated.
  • “Okay. Okay. Get up and go. It's your first day back. You shouldn't be late,” I pushed him.
  • After he left, I reached for the cellphone he had given me under the pillow. I don't have Aunt Helena's or Archer's phone numbers, but I did see Director Park's number in Randall's contact list.
  • According to the magazine, Director Park has been the company's brain since then. They also posted it on the blog that my father and he are very trusting of each other.
  • I dialed his number. No one answered the first phone call. I tried again for a second call and he responded on the first ring.
  • “Hello?”
  • He could only hear my breath before I whispered.
  • “Director Park.”
  • “Hello? Who is this? I have a business phone number. How do you know my personal phone number?” he inquires.
  • “Ahm. Well…” That was the only thing that came out of my mouth because I didn't know where to start asking questions.
  • “If you don't say anything, I'll end the call. I still have a lot of things to take care of. Don't call me again if you're just trying to make a joke with people,” I could hear the frustration in his voice.
  • “This is Winter Harris A-Adams.” I didn't say the last word correctly. Even though that is the last name I use now, I am still embarrassed.
  • He didn't respond, so I checked the screen to see if the call was still active and saw that he hadn't dropped the call yet.
  • “Miss Winter... What urged you to call? Is there a problem?” I'm not sure why he stuttered. There was no hint of intimidation in my voice.
  • “I’m going to the company today. Send me a driver. It’s fine without a car because there’s an auto here. We only have one driver here, and he’s with Randall.” I ordered him, but the tone was just right. Enough to show my position.
  • “W-Wait. Why?”
  • “When has it ever been trendy to question the owner of a company why she’s going to her own company?”
  • “Sorry.” his voice fainted.
  • “Director Park. I know you contributed and did a lot to the success of the company. You were also with my parents as their business grew but don't overestimate yourself. Just because I've been away for a few months doesn't mean I've lost interest in the company or my position.”
  • “Please accept my apologies for being disrespectful, Ms. Winter. I'll have them clean your office.”
  • “Please, also prepare the files they submit since I was in an accident. I'll look over them.” I added.
  • “But, Ms. Winter, Mr. Archer has already approved those projects. I'll just give you the one that's under review,” he suggested.
  • “I don't care if they already have a seal or signature. I'll still look over them.” I'm adamant.
  • “OK, Miss.”
  • I hung up the phone and hugged it with trembling hands. I mustered all of my courage for that phone call.
  • In the company, there is a conflict. I can't put my trust in just anyone. Who knows if a colossal serpent ever entered the company my parents founded while I was in the hospital.
  • I went to the bathroom and showered. My phone rang as I exited. Randall's name appeared.
  • “Hi!” I make a cheerful greeting.
  • On the other end of the line, he chuckled and asked, "Are you done with your lunch?"
  • “Nope. Later. So, how about you?”
  • “No, I haven't. Dad dumped me with a slew of jobs and leased plenty of interviews for the exposure of our company's union. AHH! I'm tired, and I already miss you,” he mumbled.
  • I let go of my phone, which landed on my bed and quickly covered my face with both hands. He made me blush several times today. I listened to him speak again because the phone had a loudspeaker.
  • “Can I video call you?”
  • My eyes widened, and I quickly fanned myself with my hand. Before responding, I took the lip gloss that was already on the side table.
  • “Okay.”
  • I noticed his frowning face on the screen. He frowned even more after I laughed.
  • “It's still better to be with you every day,” he complains.
  • “It's only midday, and you want to go home right away. How can you be a dependable CEO if you're like that?” I like to make fun of him.
  • I assumed he wouldn't argue anymore, but he responded reasonably, "I can do it at home."
  • “You are a fool. I'll end the call and you can get back to work,” I said.
  • “I intend to g—” His face froze on the screen, and he couldn't finish his sentence.
  • I simply ignored what he said because it could have been sarcasm.
  • Someone rang the doorbell as I was getting ready. I'm currently dressed in a fitted long V-neck dress with a cut on the legs and a black belt with a gold square in the center. I accessorized with a gray bag and black stilettos.
  • The driver showed up. When I got downstairs, I looked at Emily opening the door for him. When he saw me, he would have taken a seat but stopped. Grandpa Lino, our family's long-time driver. He is now in his seventies and has yet to retire.
  • I hugged him because he had grown close to my family and me. I simply asked how he was, and we were on our way.
  • We arrived at the office without first notifying Director Park. As I passed, employees formed a line. When I was in the elevator, I pressed the 16th button because that's what the front desk told me to do. I went outside and saw the office made of glass.
  • Because the hallway was so large, I had no idea where my office was. I got to the end and turned left until I saw two large offices. On the left, the office sofa is empty, and on the right, Archer and Aunt Helena are sitting on it, while Director Park stands and says something.
  • I would have approached them and asked if the open position next to Archer's office was mine. My phone rang loudly as I approached the door and gradually hearing their voices but isn't clear.
  • They all shifted their heads and looked at me as if they saw a ghost.
