Chapter 36 Caught

  • Even though I still wanted to question Alex, I left him there. I won’t press him to say what I want to ask because he doesn’t appear to want to. I’ll be thrilled if he ever tells me why we have the same ring, but if he wants to keep it a secret from me like Randall, aunt Helena, and Archer do, I’m powerless to stop him. That is something I will respect.
  • There were no people when I returned home. I’m not sure where the maids went this time. When they come home, they vanish as quickly as they arrived. Even though it was just midday, the entire house was gloomy. All the curtains are drawn. I’m not sure why I became nervous all of a sudden. My steps were heavy as I ascended to the second floor as if I didn’t want to enter and go to our room. I heard a voice as I neared the room. I thought maids had left again? It could not be Randall since he went to the office early and said he’d leave me a message when he got home.
  • When I approached our room, the voice became louder, but it wasn’t the regular sound of someone who was simply conversing. As I strained my ear to the door, my palm trembled. There, the voices that had been stirring inside my gut were verified. My stomach was no longer churning with butterflies. They are neither content nor agitated.
