Chapter 14 The First Patient

  • When Su Qi saw Gu Xiaonan return, she was a little further away from Ye Ming, but her eyes still held a hint of ambiguity.
  • "Xiaonan is back. Just now, I was playing a game with your cousin and we were having a great time. Well, I'm feeling better now, so I'll go upstairs first."
  • Su Qi stood up and left with a smile. As she stood at the door, she didn't forget to throw a flirtatious glance at Ye Ming.
  • "Cousin, I had a great time with you. I'll come visit you again next time."
  • Ye Ming slapped himself on the forehead. Su Qi was really a troublemaker. Now things were complicated and hard to explain.
  • As the door closed, Gu Xiaonan's eyes turned cold, clearly showing her anger. But she suppressed her anger, remembering that she had previously told him not to interfere in their affairs.
  • "Husband, there's no need to explain anything between us. You can do whatever you want, I won't interfere. It's ridiculous, I just told you not to have any contact with her, but it turns out you've been secretly meeting all this time, I just didn't see it."
  • Gu Xiaonan said coldly.
  • Ye Ming felt helpless, realizing that the misunderstanding had escalated.
  • "Wife, it's really a misunderstanding. Today was just a misunderstanding."
  • "I said you don't need to explain so much to me. It was just a temporary act. And by the way, don't call me 'wife,' it feels weird."
  • After Gu Xiaonan finished speaking, she quickly walked into her room and forcefully closed the door.
  • Ye Ming sighed, realizing that all the little feelings they had built up over the past month had been ruined.
  • He went back to his room to rest and went to the clinic as usual the next day.
  • The morning passed, and still no one came. He felt bored and lay down on the chair to take a nap. He was half asleep when he heard some commotion outside.
  • He frowned slightly, feeling annoyed that they were disturbing his nap. He walked outside and saw a crowd gathered at the entrance of the hospital, pointing and talking about something.
  • Ye Ming walked over and as he got closer, he heard what they were saying.
  • "This woman is also pitiful. Her child has a strange illness. I heard he always has nosebleeds and gets sick easily. The hospital couldn't figure it out and kept the child in the hospital for months, costing hundreds of thousands. But the child's condition is getting worse, and it looks like he won't make it."
  • "Did she bring the child here?"
  • "Look at the stroller behind her. If it's not her child, then what is it? I guess he's about two years old. This woman got divorced, and her husband doesn't care about the child. It's really pitiful."
  • "Wasn't the child being treated at the hospital? Why did she bring him out?"
  • "She ran out of money. After spending hundreds of thousands over the past few months, how can an ordinary family afford it? Now they don't have money for treatment, so they had to leave."
  • "Ah, this hospital..."
  • ...
  • Ye Ming squeezed through the crowd and saw the woman kneeling at the entrance, tears in her eyes, with a child sleeping in a stroller behind her.
  • At this moment, several security guards came over, ready to drag the woman away.
  • "What are you kneeling here for? Hurry up and leave!" one of the security guards said impatiently.
  • "Please, save my son. He's only two years old. If we're kicked out like this, he will die," the woman pleaded.
  • Another security guard scolded angrily, "If you don't have money, don't come for treatment. Who cares if your son lives or dies? Hurry up and leave, don't force us to take action!"
  • People around were pointing and talking. Some were speaking up for the woman, while others agreed with the security guards, saying that if she didn't have money, she shouldn't seek treatment.
  • "Please, let my son continue his treatment. I will earn money to repay you in the future, I beg you!" the woman pleaded, kowtowing.
  • A passing journalist saw the scene and immediately started taking photos. If they could sensationalize it, it might become big news.
  • One of the security guards shouted at the journalist, "Why are you taking photos? Put away your camera!"
  • The other security guards started to get physical, wanting to drag the woman away. Otherwise, the situation would escalate, and more people would gather. If it made the news, they might lose their jobs.
  • "Stop!"
  • Ye Ming couldn't bear to watch any longer.
  • He saw the greatness of a mother's love in the woman and decided to lend a helping hand.
  • Everyone's gaze turned to Ye Ming. They didn't expect a young man to stand up and speak up for the woman.
  • "Sister, if they won't treat him, I will," Ye Ming said.
  • The security guards looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.
  • One of the security guards said, "Young man, do you know what you're saying? The most famous doctors couldn't cure this child after he stayed in the hospital for months. Do you think you can? Don't talk big."
  • The people around, seeing how young Ye Ming was, didn't believe him either. They thought he was just trying to get attention because there were journalists present.
  • "I said I can cure him, and I'm sure I can. My clinic is right next to the hospital. If you believe me, come to my clinic for treatment," Ye Ming said to the woman.
  • The woman hesitated, not fully trusting Ye Ming because he was so young.
  • But she saw the pain on her son's face and knew that if she didn't seek treatment soon, there would be real danger.
  • She gritted her teeth and nodded. At this point, she had no other choice.
  • The security guards sneered, not expecting the woman to agree.
  • "What a foolish woman. She probably doesn't even know if her son dies," one of them said.
  • "This guy must be trying to scam money. This woman is already so pitiful, and he still wants to take advantage of her. It's despicable."
  • Facing the pointing and gossiping of the people around, Ye Ming calmly said, "I won't take a single penny from this lady for medical expenses. If anything happens to the child, I will take full responsibility."
  • That's just how people are, cold and indifferent. Ye Ming understood that now.
  • Although some people were speaking up for the woman, no one was willing to step forward and help.
  • Without much thought, Ye Ming took the initiative to help the woman and carried the child into his clinic.
  • "How do you plan to treat my child, doctor? He has been in the hospital for months, and all kinds of methods have been tried, but nothing works. If you can't help either, don't force it," the woman said.
  • Ye Ming smiled, "Don't worry, I already have a plan."
  • The people around came to the clinic to watch, wanting to see if this young man was as capable as he claimed.
  • Ye Ming didn't care about the scrutiny. He took out disposable silver needles, laid them out, and placed the child on a specialized acupuncture bed.
  • The crowd held their breath and watched...
