Chapter 11 : Diagnosing the Illness at a Glance

  • Chen Wenbing was taken aback and immediately scolded, "You, a janitor, what do you know? Get lost! Don't get yourself into trouble!"
  • The man, upon hearing that Ye Ming was just a janitor, shook his head and prepared to continue walking.
  • Ye Ming suddenly spoke, "Madam, do you often suffer from insomnia and vivid dreams at night, and do you also experience restless feet?"
  • The woman paused and stopped walking because what Ye Ming said was true.
  • "Not only that, the rashes on your body flare up when exposed to heat, so you have been taking cold showers for the past month or two. And the area where the rashes appear the most is on your chest, right?" Ye Ming said calmly.
  • The woman was shocked. She didn't expect that with just one glance, the man could identify her symptoms.
  • However, her husband was furious and pointed at Chen Wenbing, cursing, "Great! You actually let a janitor look at the patient's medical records! I will sue you in court!"
  • Chen Wenbing broke out in a cold sweat on his forehead. He was just an ordinary attending physician, and if the hospital's reputation was damaged because of him, his career would likely come to an end.
  • "Mr. Liu, this... this is a misunderstanding. The janitor only started working this morning and hasn't even been here for an hour. How could we have shown him the medical records?" Chen Wenbing said.
  • Ye Ming also spoke up, "Dr. Chen is telling the truth. I just started working this morning, and many people can confirm that I was the one who noticed the issues with this lady."
  • Mr. Liu was taken aback. Did he really have such an extraordinary ability to see through things?
  • Chen Wenbing quickly scolded, "Janitor, I am the doctor here. Who do you think you are? Stop talking nonsense and go do your job!"
  • The woman seemed to believe them to some extent. She had been suffering for a while, and none of the doctors were able to help her. Suddenly, a young man could see her symptoms with just one glance, so she wanted to give it a try.
  • "Young man, how do you plan to treat me?" the woman asked.
  • "Acupuncture," Ye Ming said calmly.
  • "Did you not understand what I said? Get lost!" Chen Wenbing's anger rose. If this young man really treated the woman and succeeded, where would he put his face?
  • Moreover, if something went wrong, he would be held responsible. After all, this was his consultation room. If the treatment worked, he would be even more embarrassed.
  • He couldn't even cure the patient, and now a young man had easily done it?
  • So, no matter how you looked at it, it was not in his favor. He definitely had to stop it.
  • "Let him treat her. If anything goes wrong, it's none of your concern," the woman said, looking at Chen Wenbing.
  • "This... this is against the rules," Chen Wenbing frowned.
  • "What rules? Your garbage hospital doesn't even have a competent doctor, and you still want to talk about rules?"
  • Mr. Liu snorted and looked at Ye Ming.
  • "Young man, since my wife believes in you, I will trust you too. As long as you can cure my wife, I will definitely give you the reward you deserve."
  • "Forget about the reward. Since it's like this, please have the lady lie on the medical bed, and I will start the acupuncture," Ye Ming said.
  • Chen Wenbing hesitated, realizing that he couldn't stop it anymore. He stood aside and watched how Ye Ming would handle it.
  • The woman walked into the room and lay on the medical bed.
  • "Take off your jacket," Ye Ming said calmly.
  • "This..." Mr. Liu frowned. He took off his jacket, leaving only his undershirt.
  • "To accurately administer the acupuncture, this is necessary," Ye Ming said.
  • "Okay, I'll take it off." The woman didn't feel uncomfortable and took off her jacket, revealing her flat belly.
  • Ye Ming took out a row of disposable silver needles and walked over to start the acupuncture.
  • As time passed, Mr. Liu nervously watched, while Ye Ming focused on treating the woman according to the information in his mind.
  • When he first saw the woman, he immediately noticed her problem.
  • Those rashes were a rare form of roseola, extremely difficult to treat, and prone to recurring. Many medicines were ineffective, but acupuncture was meant to eliminate the internal heat and eradicate the root cause of the disease.
  • With a few needles, the woman suddenly felt a cool sensation throughout her body, and the itching disappeared.
  • "Wife, are you okay?" Mr. Liu asked with concern.
  • "I'm fine. I feel really good," the woman said.
  • Upon hearing her words, Mr. Liu breathed a sigh of relief.
  • Ye Ming continued with the acupuncture, and after about ten minutes, he finished.
  • "Wait a little longer, and then I can remove the needles," he said.
  • After half an hour, Ye Ming removed the needles.
  • The woman put on her clothes and felt a slight coolness in her body. The rashes were no longer itchy, as if they had disappeared.
  • "Amazing! Honey, it's not itchy anymore. It's the first time in so long that I've felt like this," the woman said happily.
  • Upon hearing this, Mr. Liu was also delighted and respectfully said to Ye Ming, "Young man, I apologize for doubting you earlier. I didn't expect you to have such ability."
  • Ye Ming just smiled and didn't say much.
  • "Young man, what's your name?"
  • "I'm Ye Ming."
  • "Good, I'll remember that. When I have the chance, I will help you," Mr. Liu said, leaving with his wife, looking very happy.
  • Chen Wenbing, who was listening to their conversation outside, felt a lump in his heart.
  • "The illness was cured? So quickly?"
  • He snorted, feeling more and more unhappy.
  • He was an experienced traditional Chinese medicine doctor, and yet he couldn't even diagnose a simple roseola. How could he still claim to be a traditional Chinese medicine doctor?
  • Most importantly, he felt that he had been slapped in the face. There were so many people gathered at the entrance, watching. Once the news spread, many people would know that his medical skills were inferior to those of a janitor.
  • The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He looked at Ye Ming as he walked out and angrily shouted, "What's your name? How dare you impersonate a doctor and treat patients? Do you know what kind of responsibility you have to bear? I will tell the director right now and have you fired!"
  • Ye Ming furrowed his brows. He had never liked Chen Wenbing, who had looked down on him from the beginning.
  • "Dr. Chen, you should also be considered an experienced traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Yet, you can't even diagnose a basic roseola. Do you have the audacity to call yourself a traditional Chinese medicine doctor?"
  • Upon hearing this, Chen Wenbing became even angrier.
  • "You brat, I have been practicing traditional Chinese medicine for over twenty years. How dare you criticize me? You don't even understand the basic respect for your teachers. Just wait, I will call the director now!"
  • He called the director's office and exaggeratedly explained the situation. After hanging up the phone, he looked at Ye Ming and said, "The director wants us to go to the office. You go and explain."
  • Ye Ming was not afraid and followed the other person to the director's office.
  • He Hongtao stared at Ye Ming and angrily slammed the table.
  • "I heard that you treated a patient without authorization?"
  • Ye Ming nodded, "Yes, I treated the patient."
  • "Hmph, you're quite impressive. It's only your first day and you dare to treat patients without permission. Do you know how many rules you violated by doing that? Get out of here immediately, I never want to see you again!" He Hongtao said coldly.
  • Chen Wenbing sneered on the side.
  • Ye Ming frowned.
  • "Just now, when I was in the consultation, Dr. Chen couldn't even diagnose a simple rose rash and almost got into a conflict with the patient. If I just stood by and watched, who would be responsible for damaging the hospital's reputation? Besides, I have a medical license, and the patient specifically requested me to treat them. Why can't I treat them?"
  • "So you think you're right? Let me tell you, the hospital's rules are rules. You're just a janitor, I am the director of the Chinese Medicine Department, and I have the final say here!" He Hongtao said coldly.
  • He looked down on Ye Ming, who had connections, and didn't expect him to argue back. This made him even angrier.
  • Ye Ming was also furious at this moment. He clearly saved the hospital's reputation, but was mocked by the other party. He was a young and passionate person, how could he just take it?
  • "I see now, you're targeting me, trying to get rid of me, right? I don't care about this garbage hospital!" he sneered and turned to leave, leaving He Hongtao quite angry.
  • "How dare you argue with me? Just wait, I'll put you on the blacklist of Ninghai City Hospital, guaranteeing that you won't be able to work in any hospital!" He Hongtao shouted angrily.
