Chapter 10 : Joining Yunyang Hospital

  • A month had passed by quickly.
  • During this month, Ye Ming had also looked for a job. Despite having a medical license, his educational background was too low, so the big hospitals didn't want him, and the small clinics weren't hiring.
  • As a result, he stayed at home for a month, practicing the "Sky Splitting Fist" whenever he had free time. He discovered that his body had indeed become much stronger, and his strength had increased by more than double.
  • Ye Ming finally understood that the things he remembered from his memories were really useful. Of course, there were some more profound things that he couldn't comprehend at the moment, but he would understand them later.
  • During this month, the wealthy woman Su Qi had come a few times, but she was always turned away by Gu Xiaonan. As for whether Su Qi would come again, it was uncertain.
  • The two of them usually ate at the same table, but they didn't have much contact outside of meal times. Gu Xiaonan was busy with work and would often stay in the study without coming out.
  • Ye Ming couldn't help but miss the days back in his hometown. They at least had a room together, and sometimes even shared a bed. They would have some physical contact from time to time, which would excite them for a long time.
  • But now, everything was gone, and it was indeed boring.
  • On this day, Ye Ming was watching TV in the living room when Gu Xiaonan happened to come out from the living room.
  • She saw Ye Ming idling around and furrowed her brows slightly before sitting on the sofa.
  • "Do you really want to stay at home doing nothing all the time?" Gu Xiaonan asked.
  • Ye Ming was slightly taken aback and looked over. He didn't expect her to initiate a conversation with him today.
  • "Ye Ming, I'm not going to ask you to act forever. Once I find a suitable boyfriend, we'll go our separate ways. I shouldn't be telling you this, but shouldn't you find a job? You still have parents at home. You can't just loaf around for the rest of your life!" Gu Xiaonan said helplessly.
  • "I have been looking for a job this past month, but as you've seen, no one wants me," Ye Ming replied.
  • Gu Xiaonan sighed, "Forget it, let me help you this once." After saying that, she went back to her room on her own. Ye Ming didn't understand what she meant by "help" exactly.
  • The next morning, after Gu Xiaonan got up, she knocked on Ye Ming's door.
  • "Clean yourself up today and go for an interview," Gu Xiaonan said.
  • Ye Ming was a little surprised. He didn't expect her to have already arranged everything for him. He couldn't help but feel a little touched.
  • In fact, although Gu Xiaonan seemed cold most of the time, she was actually quite warm-hearted.
  • He tidied up a bit, put on his only suit, and got into Gu Xiaonan's car to leave home.
  • "Yunyang Hospital is a hospital under our group. Although it's not the best hospital in Ninghai, it's still one of the top ones. I've arranged a job for you, but you have to work hard. Don't cause any trouble for me," Gu Xiaonan advised.
  • "Okay, I'll listen to you. You're really good, my wife," Ye Ming said with a smile.
  • Gu Xiaonan frowned, "Who said you can call me your wife? Remember, in other people's eyes, you're my cousin. You should call me sister."
  • "But there's no one else here. Can't I call you my wife?" Ye Ming muttered.
  • The two of them arrived at Yunyang Hospital. After parking the car, Gu Xiaonan took Ye Ming directly to the office of the hospital director.
  • "Director Zhou, hello," Gu Xiaonan greeted the director warmly as she entered, shaking his hand.
  • The director's name was Zhou Hua, in his fifties, with some gray hair.
  • "Director Zhou, you're my senior. I came here this time because of my cousin. I hope you can do me a favor and give him a job opportunity," Gu Xiaonan said.
  • Director Zhou showed a somewhat hesitant expression. He glanced at Ye Ming and then said, "General Manager Gu, it's not that I don't want to give you face. I've looked at your cousin's information. His educational background is too low and he lacks experience. It's impossible for me to arrange a position as a senior doctor for him. After all, we have to be responsible for the patients."
  • Gu Xiaonan smiled and said, "Director Zhou, you've misunderstood. I didn't mean that. Just give him a job as a nurse or let him assist other doctors."
  • Director Zhou nodded, "Alright, I'll arrange it for him. Let him stay."
  • Gu Xiaonan breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Ye Ming, saying, "I've fought for this opportunity for you. It's up to you to see how it develops. Work hard. I'm still busy in the group, so I have to leave now. Listen to Director Zhou's arrangements."
  • "Okay, wif...," Ye Ming didn't finish his sentence before Gu Xiaonan glared at him, causing him to quickly change his words, "Okay, sister."
  • Gu Xiaonan left, leaving Ye Ming alone in the office.
  • Director Zhou looked at the personnel arrangement form and said indifferently, "Currently, the hospital doesn't need many people, and it's not easy to place you either. There are three positions available for you to choose from. The morgue needs a guard, the inpatient department needs a security guard, and the traditional Chinese medicine department needs someone to pick up medicine. Choose one."
  • Director Zhou didn't think highly of Ye Ming, who was a relative with connections, and he despised his educational background. He only had a college degree and yet wanted to work at Yunyang Hospital.
  • Although Yunyang Hospital wasn't the best hospital in Ninghai, it wasn't a place just anyone could enter. The doctors here were all graduates from prestigious universities, and there were no doctors with only a college degree.
  • Ye Ming furrowed his brows slightly. None of these three positions were good jobs.
  • There was no need to mention the morgue. Being a security guard had nothing to do with being a doctor. The only position that would have contact with patients was probably the one in the traditional Chinese medicine department, assisting the doctors.
  • Of course, he had already done some research beforehand. Yunyang Hospital was a Western medicine hospital, and traditional Chinese medicine wasn't highly regarded here. There were hardly any patients who came here for traditional Chinese medicine.
  • But his mind was filled with knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, so if he went to the traditional Chinese medicine department to help out, it would be making the best use of his abilities.
  • "I choose to go to the traditional Chinese medicine department to pick up medicine," Ye Ming said.
  • "Alright, the traditional Chinese medicine department is on the third floor. Turn right after going upstairs and go directly to contact the head of the department," Director Zhou said before busying himself with his own work, ignoring Ye Ming.
  • Ye Ming left the office and followed the given address to find the office of the head of the traditional Chinese medicine department.
  • He knocked on the door and heard a response from inside before entering. Sitting in the office was a fifty-year-old doctor with a white beard and slightly graying hair. He glanced at Ye Ming and then lowered his head.
  • Based on his name tag, Ye Ming knew his name was He Hongtao.
  • "You're Ye Ming, right? A relative with connections?" He Hongtao didn't look at Ye Ming directly and spoke frankly.
  • Ye Ming furrowed his brows slightly, "Director He, do you have anything for me to do?"
  • He Hongtao sneered, "Director Zhou told you to pick up medicine. Do you know all the Chinese herbs? Don't give the patients the wrong medicine. Go clean the adjacent room properly."
  • "Director, I do know all the Chinese herbs, so picking up medicine won't be a problem. I have a medical license," Ye Ming quickly said.
  • He Hongtao laughed when he heard that.
  • "What are you? Now that you're in the traditional Chinese medicine department, you have to listen to me. Leave quickly!" He Hongtao said disdainfully.
  • Although Ye Ming was filled with anger, he could only be at the mercy of others. So he left the room and went to the adjacent room.
  • Ye Ming entered the room, which was the rest area for several doctors in the traditional Chinese medicine department.
  • At the moment, there were three doctors sitting inside, two men and one woman. The older man was Chen Wenbing, the younger one was Li Hao, and the woman was Qiu Xiaosu.
  • Although it was the time for consultations, the three of them hadn't gone to the consultation room. After all, there were hardly any patients who came to see them throughout the day. The number of appointments made it clear that there were only two or three patients each day. They were happy to have a leisurely time and would come to the rest area to play with their phones and eat snacks.
  • When Ye Ming entered, the three doctors glanced at him but didn't pay much attention to him.
  • Although Ye Ming felt a bit frustrated, he couldn't just leave since the job was arranged by Gu Xiaonan. So, he picked up the broom next to him and started sweeping the floor.
  • "Hey, the cleaner, come here and sweep these melon seeds on the floor," Chen Wenbing beckoned to Ye Ming.
  • Ye Ming walked over and saw the melon seed shells all over the floor, furrowing his brows slightly.
  • He began sweeping, but the melon seed shells were difficult to deal with. Some were stuck tightly to the ground, so he had to pick them up by hand.
  • "Have you heard the news? Our Traditional Chinese Medicine department might be downsized, and we might all lose our jobs," Qiu Xiaosu sighed while looking at the newspaper.
  • "That's impossible. Look at how well our director gets along with the hospital president. How could they just downsize us like that?" Chen Wenbing laughed in disbelief.
  • "I agree with Dr. Chen. Although our Traditional Chinese Medicine department is relatively idle, it shouldn't be downsized. First of all, Director He would never agree to it. Don't worry too much," Li Hao said casually.
  • "You guys really have no sense of crisis. When you're out of a job and can't support your family, then you'll know what trouble is," Qiu Xiaosu shook her head.
  • At that moment, Chen Wenbing's phone suddenly rang. He answered the call and said a few words before preparing to leave.
  • "What's going on? Is there a patient in the consultation room?" Li Hao chuckled.
  • "There's an urgent registration for the emergency department. They're coming right away, so I'll go to the consultation room first. It's strange though, why would someone with an emergency come to see a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor?" Chen Wenbing shook his head. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something and shouted at Ye Ming.
  • "Hey, cleaner, there's trash in the consultation room. Come help me clean it up."
  • Although Ye Ming didn't like being called that by these people, he still followed along.
  • As soon as Chen Wenbing sat down, a man and a woman entered the room.
  • The woman had a distressed expression, with red rashes covering her face, which looked quite alarming.
  • "Doctor, please take a look at my wife's face," the man pointed to his wife's face anxiously.
  • "Oh, she has developed rashes?" Chen Wenbing asked.
  • "Doctor, to be honest, these rashes have been present for over a month. They itch terribly every day, making it impossible for her to sleep. She suffers from insomnia every day.
  • We've tried numerous medications from Western medicine, both topical and oral, but none of them worked. Now, the rashes are spreading even more, and we're at our wit's end.
  • A friend of mine said that this kind of condition needs to be treated by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Please, help us take a look," the woman said in pain.
  • She wanted to scratch the rashes on her face because they were so itchy, but she was afraid of causing scars. So, she had to restrain herself.
  • This internal struggle was becoming unbearable for her.
  • "Extend your hand, let me take a look," Chen Wenbing said.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes the combination of observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking to achieve an accurate diagnosis.
  • Chen Wenbing also realized that the rashes on the woman's body were a type of eczema, but unfortunately, he didn't have relevant experience in treating it.
  • "Madam, your eczema is indeed quite difficult to handle. Western medicine hasn't been effective, and I'm afraid as a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor..." He wanted to say that he was at a loss, but he didn't know how to put it into words.
  • Upon hearing this, the man became furious.
  • "What kind of hospital is this? My wife has been hospitalized here for a month, and there has been no improvement at all. Western medicine referred us to Traditional Chinese Medicine, and now you're telling us to go back to Western medicine?"
  • Due to his loud voice, a crowd quickly gathered at the door.
  • Chen Wenbing frowned and said, "Sir, I truly don't have a solution for your wife's condition. Maybe you should seek help from Western medicine?"
  • The man became even angrier upon hearing this.
  • "What kind of doctor are you? Useless! Everyone, come and see. This is how doctors pass the buck to each other. Western medicine says Traditional Chinese Medicine can treat it, and now Traditional Chinese Medicine is pushing us back to Western medicine. How dare you say such things? I'm going to file a complaint against this hospital. Just wait and see!"
  • The man was extremely angry and prepared to leave with his wife. At that moment, Ye Ming suddenly stepped forward.
  • "I can treat this condition," he spoke up.
