• Avery couldn’t believe her eyes as she froze mid-position in shock. “Max!” she slowly called out his name as they locked gazes.
• Lacy tapped her on the shoulder. “You should take a seat; the teacher has his eyes on you,” she whispered softly, kindly reminding her. Avery sat down immediately, avoiding drama on the very first day of school.
• As the class progressed, Avery could feel someone glance at her, and without bothering to turn around, she already knew who it was. All Avery wanted was for the class to end in the blink of an eye. Before she could get back to her senses, the teacher wrapped up and left, exactly as Avery had hoped.
