Chapter 27 How Did I End Up Here?

• After dinner, Evan and Avery left immediately. As Evan opened the door for Avery to get in, he couldn’t help but notice how pale she looked. “Is everything okay with you?” Evan asked as he settled into the driver’s seat.
• “I’m fine, just a bit tired,” Avery replied with a small smile. Evan remained silent, as usual, while he drove them back home.
• As soon as they arrived home, Avery quickly took a shower and soon retired to bed. Evan entered the room and found her curled up like a worm on the bed. The air conditioner was on, and she wore a silk nightdress with thin straps that barely covered her knees.
