Chapter 26 Deafest

• Avery met Evan a few blocks from their school building, at the exact spot she'd specified. She looked left and right cautiously before getting into the car, a strange feeling settling over her.
• He noticed her struggling with the seatbelt. “Let me do it,” he said softly, his hands grazing hers gently. A jolt of electricity shot through Avery.
• “How was school?” Evan asked, his gaze fixed on the road. Avery stole a quick glance at him but was caught when Evan suddenly turned his head in her direction.
