Chapter 31 Pursuit Of The Lycan Path
- Raya’s POV
- The loyalty in Sara’s eyes was a powerful, dangerous thing. Her decision to come with me, to actively defy the Pack, introduced a variable I could not afford. My cloaking ability was sufficient for two skilled rogues, but it would not hold against the panicked scrutiny that would follow a servant’s disappearance. I had to reject her sacrifice, at least for now, but my heart ached at the necessary cruelty of the choice.
- “You have already fought for me, Sara,” I stated, keeping my voice low and firm as I checked the hallway through the small peep-slot in her door. “Your memory of the patrol routes and the location of the ritual chamber is my shield. Your presence on the inside is now our greatest asset. You remain here, hidden, until I return.”
