Chapter 3 Worse Fate

  • Raya's POV
  • The leaves crunched beneath my feet as I wandered barefooted in the woods. My pale eyes were tired of crying, and I felt dizzy.
  • “Miss Raya, please, it's enough.” I could still hear Raya's voice echo in my head.
  • When I ran out of the pack assembly hall the other time, she ran after me. But she couldn't keep up with my speed, so she retreated.
  • The sounds of the birds chipping kept my senses awakened. The clouds grumbled, and I knew it was about to rain. I didn't feel the need to hide. I just stood still waiting for the wind to blow me off.
  • All that I’m has been reduced to nothing in one single night. I have been ruined, and even my father didn't support me. He left me there.
  • I didn't know which hurt more. Alpha Darius's betrayal or the look of contempt from my father. Just tonight, I felt out of place, like I didn't belong anywhere and that no one wanted me.
  • “Aahhhh!” My anguished cry collided with the disturbing sound of the pouring rain. I slumped on the floor, letting the grief overwhelm me.
  • The cold breeze pierced through my being, making me shiver in pain. I closed my eyes, hoping never to open it again.
  • ***
  • I opened my eyes to the burning sun smiling down at me. The throbbing headache I felt humbled me back to the ground as I made an effort to use my legs.
  • My stomach grumbled, leaving me with pangs of pain on my lower abdomen.
  • I groaned in pain and curled up on the floor. I finally summoned the courage and stood up.
  • I sniffed the air as I took note of my surroundings. The damp smell of wet woods made me nauseous. I exhaled sharply as I made my way out of the woods.
  • I arrived home to our Pack with my hair dishevelled and my dress dripping dirt and water. My bloody lips and puffy eyes made it almost impossible to recognize me.
  • The streets were unusually silent, and I wondered what might be happening. The minute I stepped my foot into the Pack mansion, I was faced with my father's angry eyes.
  • “Miss Raya! My lady, where have you been? I looked everywhere for you. You ran off into the woods.” Sara came to me and pulled me into an embrace.
  • Tears trickled down my eyes, but I sniffed them back.
  • “Come, we should get you washed up,” Sara said and led me into the house by hand.
  • “Stop right there.” My father spoke, his voice causing me to flinch. Sara hid behind me, and I turned around with my head down.
  • All of a sudden, my father's hard palm struck my face, and my weak body hit the cold ground.
  • The tears I've been keeping at bay found their way to my cheek, and my lips trembled in pain as I could no longer hold back
  • “Miss Raya!” Sara gasped and ran towards me.
  • “Don't you dare move an inch closer to this disgrace of a human being.” My father yelled, and Sara moved back immediately.
  • “Father!” I muttered with my palm over my swollen cheek.
  • “You are not even allowed to call me that anymore. I don't even know if you will continue to be my daughter,” my father began.
  • “I can not believe I made so many preparations and invited Alphas and elders from various regions only to end up being humiliated in the worst form.” My father spat in my face.
  • “How hard can it be to win over Alpha Darius? It's something anyone can do. Yet, you can't even do that simple thing. You are so useless and weak. And you have brought shame upon our family, name, and Pack,” my father continued as my pupils dilated with more tears flowing down.
  • My father's face twisted in disgust, and his eyes laced with hatred as he spoke those words, diving a wedge into my heart.
  • “But it wasn't my fault.. I didn't do anything wrong, father. He was the one who rejected me. Why are you doing this to me?” I cried out, and my father hit me again, this time a little bit harder.
  • I felt blood mixed with tears in my mouth. Pain ravages every part of my body.
  • “Now everyone will laugh at me because I have brought up a very useless daughter. I'm so embarrassed by you, Raya.” My father threw his face to the other side.
  • I couldn't bear it anymore, so I crawled up to my father and held his legs.
  • “Father I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to be a disappointment. I promise I will find another mate and bring him home as soon as possible,” I pleaded with my father, my shaky hands struggling to hold on to his legs.
  • “I don't even want to see your face anymore.” My father concluded, and I looked up at him horrified.
  • “Guards!” My father called, and my eyes widened with shock.
  • “Alpha!” Two guards appeared and bowed their heads to my father.
  • “Throw her out of this place. I don't ever want to see her again.” My father announced.
  • “No! No! No! Father, you can't do that to me. I'm your daughter. You can't cast me aside like this. If you throw me out like this, I will have nowhere to go.” I held onto his leg with every bit of strength in me refusing to let go.
  • “I don't care even if you die. I would rather have no daughter than to harbour such a disgrace under my roof.” My father said without batting me an eye.
  • “Didn't you hear me? I asked you to throw her out!!” My father yelled at the guards who seemed to be reluctant in following my father's orders.
  • “Yes Alpha!” They replied and grabbed me.
  • “Let me go! Let me go!! Father, please, have mercy.” I cried, trying to fight the guards off, but they were too strong for me.
  • “Father no!” I yelled as the guards threw me out in the streets.
