Chapter 5

  • “Leave me alone.” I said slowly, my voice detached and cold, sending shivers down the young girl's spine. Instead, she tightened her grip on my hands and sneered, “Let you go or what? Do you think you have the right to talk to me anyhow? I'm the head maid, the maid in charge of everyone here. If I ask you to kneel, you obey without thinking twice. Seems like you don't know the rules because you're new here.”
  • Swallowing my pride, I bowed slightly, “Head maid, I'm sorry. Please let me go.” I mumbled, making her widen her eyes in surprise, however, her expression changed in the blink of an eye. “Don't just say you're sorry. For talking back at me, I'll give you your first work right now!” she said as she dragged me towards the door.
  • Other maids laughed out loud, pointing their hands at me in mockery. Confused, I stared at the supposed head maid, “The Alpha said I'm his slave. Are you sure you have the right to give me my first work?”
  • Stupified, the head maid raised her hands slightly, her hand coming in contact with my face. Lifting my head to stare at her face, her loud voice rang in my ears, “What if you're the Alpha's slave?! Do you think you're different from other maids here?!”
  • At the same time, Silas, the Alpha's beta stormed in, his eyes surveying the large room. Immediately he sighted me, he furrowed his brows, surprised by what just happened. Turning to the head maid, Flora, “Did you just slap her?” he asked, his voice holding a certain kind of authority.
  • Everyone gasped, surprised by the Beta's presence. “What's he doing here by this hour?”
  • “I'm as surprised as you are!”
  • “Oh no, Lady Flora might be in trouble.”
  • Flora bowed slightly, fear written all over her face, “Beta Silas, it's an honour to have…have you here.” she stuttered. “If I may ask, why have you graced us with your presence?” She asked, raising her head slightly to look at his handsome face. Her cheeks turned crimson red as he stared intently at her, “Why did you slap that lady?”
  • Flora gave a smile that didn't reach her eyes, her heart racing in her chest, “She sees herself above us all. Perhaps because she climbed the Alpha's bed. I've decided to teach her a lesson, but because you're here, I paused in my actions.”
  • Hearing Flora's words, Silas was tongue tied. Even if he was going to defend me, he had no say in this matter. I was now a slave, and whatever the head maid does says about me matters alot.
  • “Then she deserves to be punished. Take her to the kitchen and make her wash all the dishes, scrub the floor and tidy everywhere up.” Silas ordered, stunning me for a moment. I gritted my teeth in anger as I tried to suppress my fury. When I thought someone was on my side, he was actually like everyone else.
  • Flora smiled brightly, nodding her head, satisfied by the Beta's punishment. Bowing slightly, “I'll take her to the kitchen now and make sure she does her Job well.” She said as she pulled my hands roughly, dragging me to the kitchen.
  • Feeling the cold touch of the ground on my skin, I shivered slightly, wrapping my arms around my body. Upon reaching the kitchen, my jaw dropped in surprise. The kitchen was messy with plates scattered everywhere. I swallowed nervously, feeling my strength drain away from me. For about two days, I've not had a single drop of water. My throat burned and I suddenly felt dizzy, falling down to the ground with a loud thud.
  • Flora laughed out loud, her shoulders shaking slightly, “Don't tell me you want to faint because of these dishes?” She mocked, bending down to push me to my feets. I groaned in pain, my legs trembling beneath me. Facing Flora, I parted my chapped lips, my eyes breaming with tears, “Please, I need water” I whispered softly, my heart hammering inside my chest. Flora ignored my pleas and snapped, “You need water? You work before you eat! Wash the dishes before you think about getting water!”
  • Suddenly, I gripped her hands tight, “Please, please, just help me this once. I really need water.” I gasped, my heart tightening in my chest but Flora slapped my hands away, staring at me with disgust. Suddenly, my vision went blank, my throat burning intensely. “I…I can't have a seizure now…” I whispered weakly, but an excruciating pain followed. A sharp, stabbing pain pierced through my head like a lightening bolt striking my brain. It was as it my skull was being squeezed with an intense pressure, making me groan unconsciously. It was unbearable, as I felt like my body was electrocuted from inside out, making me move from side to side. The agony was so intense as it consumed my consciousness, leaving me gasping for air.
  • Flora stared at me confused, wondering if I was acting or just pretending to have a seizure, but no, it was all real. Born with an illness, I was weaker compared to other wolves, and being an omega made it worse. Hypothalamic Dysfunction was a serious illness, but it seems to have no cure.
  • “Stop acting now and get up this instant!” Flora yelled, but I was in a world of my own, pleading to the moon goddess for mercy. The agony was too Intense, and there was nothing I could do than endure. Bending slightly, she shook my body in her hands but I was unresponsive, my body laying limp with no single sign of life. Frightened, she dashed outside the kitchen, her hands trembling slightly as she knocked on the Alpha's room.
  • “Alpha…Alpha..there seems to be a problem.” Flora said urgently, her voice betraying her. “Alpha..yo..your slave, she's…she's unconscious.” she stuttered. However, Silas seemed to have overheard her. There was a glass of water and a snack in his hands as he rushed towards the kitchen. Alpha Damien, my mate turned to Flora, his eyes narrowing as he demanded an explanation. “What do you mean by she's unconscious?” He snapped and Flora suddenly went weak. “I…I…I don't know, Alpha. She suddenly fainted and started moving uncomfortably on the ground.” her voice was laced with fear and uncertainty as she avoided the Alpha's gaze.
  • “And what did you do to make her uncons…” His words were cut off as Silas brought me to his presence. His cold expression cracked a bit, and there seemed to be fear in his eyes.
