- The main hall of the Brotherhood of Fir stretched before us like a tomb. Stone walls absorbed sound, swallowing the shuffling footsteps and nervous whispers as Alexis dismissed the other pledges with a casual wave. Their relief was evident. They were to look for coins. But not for us.
