  • SARAPHINA’S POV
  • The sky outside my window was turning the color of faded denim. Dawn, just beginning to creep in, found me sitting at the edge of my bed, staring at the half-packed bag by my feet. I'd been awake all night, listening to my heart pound in my ears, but the rest of the dorm had finally come to life, footsteps thudding and doors slamming open and shut. My head throbbed from lack of sleep, but at least it kept my mind too tired to think about Eamon, or Darragh, or what I'd done.
  • I stuffed my last sweater into the bag and zipped it shut. My hands were shaking, but I kept my face blank. The room was thick with tension. My roommates, all three of them, pretended to busy themselves. They weren't fooling anyone.
